One of my favorite environmental graphic design installations The Gastrotypographicalassemblage at the CBS Cafeteria, 1966 by Lou Dorfsman working with Graphic Design icons, Herb Lubalin, Tom Carnese, John E. Alcorn, Stanley Glaubach. The mural is 33 feet 11 inches wide and 8 feet 3 inches tall. It was composed of 1,650 letters, carved from pine or poplar and lacquered white, that were glued or nailed to a plywood background. These were interspersed with actual vessels and utensils, as well as foods reproduced in plastic or plaster. This installation has been restored and now stands at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, north of New York City.

The Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County has awarded the C. Emlen Urban Award for LANDMARK PROPERTY REHABILITATION to Elizabeth Furnace Campus.
