When Jeff A. visited CTCA Atlanta for the first time during the #COVID19 pandemic, he knew immediately that he was in good hands. In two days at CTCA, we accomplished more than in the eight months of visits in Nashville, Jeff says. I would recommend CTCA to anyone I know because of the exceptional care I received and, more importantly, the various options and outcome data. Most important was the upbeat confidence projected by my doctors, all coordinating together. My only regret is that I wish I would have come here sooner.

With the new year just days away, many people are making resolutions. Maybe you’re considering ways to live a healthier life or give back to those you love. Consider this: One of the most important things you can do to take control of your health is to speak with your doctor about cancer screenings that are recommended for you and to encourage your loved ones to do the same. Visit https://bit.ly/2WWcsVA for cancer screening recommendations from the @American Cancer Society. #GiveTheGiftOfHealth

Meet Megan Youngstead, RN at CTCA Phoenix, this week’s Faces of CTCA spotlight. We asked Megan what led her to become a nurse, and this is what she shared: I think being in the medical field at such an early age really allowed me to see different opportunities that were available. When I saw the hands-on aspect of being a nurse, it hit home, and I felt it was my calling to help people. Since then, I have loved every minute of being a nurse, especially in oncology. I feel oncology nurses have a certain level of compassion that helps patients through this difficult time, and I am happy I get to help them every day I come to work. #FacesOfCTCA #StrongerTogether

Men may be surprised to learn they can get breast cancer. Men have breast tissue that develops in the same way and is susceptible to cancer in the same way as breast tissue in women. Breast cancer in men is considered rare because male breasts have ducts that are less developed and are not exposed to growth-promoting female hormones. According to @AmericanCancerSociety, 1 in 833 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. The risk of breast cancer increases with age, with most men diagnosed between the ages of 60 and 70. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3o9Eb1g #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

For today’s Faces of CTCA spotlight, we’re featuring Mirela Holtz, PT, DPT, CLT, of CTCA Phoenix. We asked Mirela what led her to work in oncology, and here’s what she said: I never dreamed of working in oncology, but CTCA found me in some cosmic way. Now, I can’t see myself in any other specialty. I love oncology so much that I am one of few Board-Certified Oncology Specialists in Physical Therapy in the state of Arizona. I love the real and lasting impact physical therapy ...can make on patients during their cancer journey. Sometimes, it looks like a patient regaining his or her ability to walk again, or getting enough range of motion in the shoulder to play pickle ball or golf, or managing her lymphedema so she can look beautiful again in a dress. My work in oncology is very fulfilling. #FacesofCTCA #StrongerTogether #NationalPhysicalTherapyMonth See more
