For Immediate release From the Office of Chief Corrin Culhane and the Carlow University Police Department: It it with deep sadness to report that the Carlow University Community has lost a vital member in support of its Core Values. ... Fred Fischer, 62, Assistant Lead Police Telecommunications has unfortunately passed away this week. He was surrounded by his Fiancée, friends, and family. Fred had been a vital member of our Community as well as the community he lived in of Avalon. He had been involved in Public Safety for 45 years including the Bellevue Police Department, Allegheny General Hospital and Carlow University. From the Office of Police Chief Corrin Culhane: What can we say? We are living in a different normal with what has struck the entire world since March. In person instruction was postponed and Carlow University went to online instruction. We learned a lot about Zoom and learned to adapt during a difficult and different time with today’s ever changing technology and figure out what the new normal was going to be.... The University and it’s staff is committed to the safety of each and every guest, student ,and staff member of the Carlow Community. In an attempt to return to a sense of normalcy, the police department, led by myself Chief Corrin Culhane and Lieutenant Michael Anderson, have once again assisted with move-in. This year was obviously a little different and although music was played, and social distancing was practiced we were unable to find our next rising dance star within the department. Move-In took place over two days utilizing assigned time slots to ensure enough proper CDC guidelines and policies set forth from the Carlow Safety team were being followed. Please remember to wash your hands for 20 seconds and maintain 6 feet between each other while wearing masks.
