Beautiful poem. Seems even more relevant now... Small Kindnesses By Danusha Laméris... I’ve been thinking about the way, when you walk down a crowded aisle, people pull in their legs to let you by. Or how strangers still say bless you when someone sneezes, a leftover from the Bubonic plague. Don’t die, we are saying. And sometimes, when you spill lemons from your grocery bag, someone else will help you pick them up. Mostly, we don’t want to harm each other. We want to be handed our cup of coffee hot, and to say thank you to the person handing it. To smile at them and for them to smile back. For the waitress to call us honey when she sets down the bowl of clam chowder, and for the driver in the red pick-up truck to let us pass. We have so little of each other, now. So far from tribe and fire. Only these brief moments of exchange. What if they are the true dwelling of the holy, these fleeting temples we make together when we say, Here, have my seat, Go ahead you first, I like your hat.
a wonderful and eloquent description of this mother's experience as her 4yo transitions. She describes some of the ignorant and hurtful comments she received during this process and responds with grace and humor....

This one is for the graduating seniors who have worked hard and dreamed big. There is much more to happiness and success than a brand name school. I highly recommend Frank Bruni's book, Where You Go Is Not Who You'll Be for an additional fresh perspective on the college hype....
"Kids are passionate to talk about love..." According to the Making Caring Common project teens are very interested in hearing from their parents about how to have healthy relationships full of trust, empathy and LOVE....
A new study published by Nature Human Behavior has studied extensively the impact of digital technology usage and adolescent well being. The findings suggest that screen time has no greater a negative impact on well being than does eating potatoes or wearing glasses. Although families should feel comfortable limiting screen time, a focus on eating and sleeping well, encouraging healthy relationships, and paying attention to substance use is perhaps even more pertinent.
This young person does a gorgeous job of eloquently describing life as a gender fluid person. Totally entertaining and enlightening!
Ask your teens to tell you about juuling. They are likely to know more than you would think....
I'm sold! Even a little bit helps. Three minutes a day is better than no minutes a day...
This is the time of year when thoughts of heading off to school start flooding our minds. Here is an article I love to share and I hope you find it as on point as I do!
