On December 14, 2019 Carroll Township Police Officer James French participated in Wreaths Across America at Fort Indiantown Gap National Military Cemetery, Lebanon County. Officer French along with Jack Coleman place a wreath on the grave of his father, Private Joseph Coleman. Private Coleman was in the United States Army 115th Infantry, 29th Division. Private Coleman was in the first wave that landed on Omaha Beach and was later captured by the German Army and was in prisoned in a German POW Camp. Private Joseph Coleman was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart upon his release from the German Army POW Camp.

Carroll Township Police Officer James French was awarded with a commendation from the Pennsylvania State Police for the apprehension of a homicide suspect wanted in connection with a homicide in the Borough of Wellsville, York County back on July 23, 2019. Wyatt Dettinger was charged with criminal homicide in connection with the shooting of his father, Duane Dettinger. Wyatt Dettinger fled from the scene after the shooting in a vehicle. A description of the vehicle was broa...dcast to officers, Officer French located the vehicle Dettinger was in and subsequently took Dettinger into custody without incident along with the alleged weapon in Dettinger's possession which was used in the homicide. Presenting the commendation to Officer French is Lt. Joseph Spingler from the York Barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police along with Chief Thomas Wargo.

TRAFFIC ALERT On Friday September 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM Carroll Township Police will be closing the south bound lanes of Route 15 at the Lisburn Road off ramp in Upper Allen Township. Traffic will be rerouted onto West Lisburn Road, then Williams Grove Road to Route 74 (York Road) and back onto Route 15 south. The closure is due to the a crash reconstruction by police on Route 15, in Carroll Township.

Please take pause to remember the first responders, flight crews of the aircrafts and the civilians who died in that days attack’s. Carroll Township Police were called to the 800 block of Route 15 south, in Carroll Township at 8:50 PM. for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. A male, 27 years of age was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the highway. The male was transported to Holy Spirit Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cumberland County Coroner is making notification of next of kin. The driver of the striking vehicle is cooperating with police in the investigation.
