March is #WomensHistoryMonth, and although we’ve come a long way in the fight for equal rights, there still is a lot of work to do. Violence against women is still a significant problem, as well as a major human rights violation. We must continue to raise awareness and fight for women’s rights.

Did you know? Nearly half of college women report experiencing abusive behaviors from their partners. Additionally, out of all teens that are in abusive relationships, 2 of 3 never say anything. #TDVAM #KnowYourWorth

Domestic violence can be a difficult situation to escape from. At CV, we can help by providing shelter, safety planning, therapy, and filing protection from abuse orders.

More than 20% of black women are raped in their lifetimes-- a higher share than women overall. However, when reporting crimes, they are less likely to be believed. Even when defending themselves, they aren’t always seen as a victim and can be put at risk for incarceration. There are many stories of black mothers being sentenced for ‘failing to protect’ or women that are charged with assault when escaping human traffickers.
