Sweet, shy miss Licorice, now Pepper waited 6 months for her forever to come. Time and time again she was looked over as she was shy. That wait paid off and today she found her perfect home! She will have an open lap and cuddles any time she wants them! Congrats sweet girl!

As part of National Law Enforcement Day we want to take a moment to recognize our Humane Police Officer Paul Gottshall who serves all of Blair County. Paul works tirelessly to investigate animal neglect and cruelty. You sometimes see our posts that show some of the cases he is involved in. Paul has been at CPHS for over 20 years and in this line of work that is a huge achievement, and one that he does because of his love of animals. Paul’s work is never done, he is on ca...ll 24/7 and helps assist many police departments as well as following up on complaints made directly to him. Often it is a challenging role as he deals with many people that do not understand the value of an animals life. It is a tough, emotional job that not many people could do. Please join us in thanking Paul for the amazing work he does. We are very lucky to have him as part of the CPHS team!

Little Raven is a special girl who had a talent for overwhelming, and even harassing other dogs in her new homes. The first couple dogs to meet her couldn’t take it, but her new older dog brother loves to play as roughly as she does! She’s found her perfect fit!

Jessie is a 2 year old girl who is looking for her forever home. Don't let her grumpy face fool you, much like her cage mate she is very sweet once she becomes comfortable! Jessie would love the company of another cat in the home for her confidence level and would do best without young children due to her initial shy nature. She has not been tested with dogs. If you think you'd like to give Jessie a chance, please submit an application to meet with her.

Milo is another ball of energy we have available for adoption. This handsome guy is a Boxer mix that is almost 2 yrs old. He would do best as the only pet in the home & kids over 14 yrs old due to his rough play. If Milo would be a possible good match for your family, please go to our website to complete an application. It can either be emailed or faxed to us and a staff member will be in contact with you to schedule a visit.

Central PA Humane Society 09.07.2020

Buddy is an 11 month old Boxer mix that is looking for an active family. He does well with dogs that will tolerate his energy level but will need a home without cats. He loves to play rough so kids over 10 yrs of age would be best. If you're looking for a new outdoor hiking pal, Buddy is your match! Please go to our website to complete an application. It can either be emailed or faxed to us and a staff member will be in contact with you to schedule a visit.

Sweet Gracie has been with us for almost a year and has come leaps and bounds since she arrived. While she is still a shy girl and can be slow to warm up to new people, she is an absolute sweetheart once she is comfortable. She loves people but would do best in a home without other cats. She has not yet been tested with dogs. We believe she would do better in a home without young children due to her shy nature. If you think you would like to give Gracie a chance, please submit an application for her today.

Who doesn't love a lap cat?? Phantom has been with us for a few months now and has been looked over time and time again. He was brought in to us after being hit by a car and now that he is fully recovered, all he wants is a warm lap to lay on! Since he has been with us, we have allowed him to run around and when he does, he makes sure to occupy any open lap he can. He doesn't care if staff are trying to work or not! As a matter of fact, he seems to prefer to climb into the ...lap of the busiest staff member he can find! He loves hugs and head boops and scratches too! This sweet 2 year old is looking for an adult only home, unfortunately due to his previous injury, he has a sore elbow. This does not bother him unless he is picked up. He also has a tendency to love bite, but he is gentle about this. All he wants is attention! He is also not a big fan of other cats. Do you think you can open your heart to this sweet boy? If so, please visit centralpahumane.org/adoptionduringcovid and submit an application to [email protected]! We promise, you will not be disappointed!

Merlin came to us with severely injured paw, and he couldn't walk on this paw at all. After x-rays it was discovered he had been declawed, but that the surgery was not done correctly. We had to operate to remove extra bone left behind, bone splinters and we even had to remove one toe up to the next joint. This poor cat suffered awful pain until he came here and had his corrective surgery done. However, his story finished on the best note possible! After he had recovered he quickly found a new home and as you can see he is spoiled rotten and living the life! Happy Birthday Merlin!

We are closed today for New Year. We would like to wish you and your families a happy and safe New Year. Thank you to our community, who this year have stepped up tremendously to donate to the animals. Covid has made life hard for many, yet people still dig deep to give to us. We are eternally grateful for you, without you there would be no CPHS. Your support enables us keep our doors open and provide the best of care to the animals. There are many ups and downs, but yo...u pull us through, all of you, with your donations, words of support and comfort and most of all by offering homeless animals a home! Here’s looking forward to a better 2021!

Adoptable Max says "What?? 2020 is almost over??" As we get ready to ring in the new year, we want to remind everyone to stay safe this new years eve! We are excited to continue finding homes for every animal that comes through our doors in the new year! As a reminder, New years Eve can be a stressful time for pets. Here are some simple tips and tricks to help ease their anxiety and stress;... - Keep pets indoors! Keep pets in a safe, enclosed room. Surrounding them with familiar toys, blankets and anything with your scent can help to create a calm, relaxing environment when they are feeling anxious or upset. -Turn on music or television. If you do not have a separate room, sometimes music or turning the television up can help to drown out anything happening outside the home and can help keep pets calm. - Update identification! If your dog does not wear a collar indoors, it may be a good idea to make sure they are wearing a collar with proper identification. New years can be one of the worst times of the year for pets to get loose and become lost due to the stress caused by fireworks and other forms of celebration throughout the community. Ensuring they are wearing proper identification is the best way to make sure they are returned home safe and sound! As always, Be safe and have a happy new year! We thank you all for your continued support. We could not do what we do without all of you!

Akira is a 1 1/2 year old spayed female who was rescued from a barn where she was dumped. This girl had a rough start to life so she is nervous of strangers and new things. However once she warms up to you she is very loving. She wants nothing more than to lay by you on the couch relaxing and enjoying your company. Akira loves other cats, so would prefer a home with other felines for company. For her comfort level she would prefer a home with adults only. If you are interested in offering this sweetheart a home please complete the application here: www.centralpahumane.org/adoptionduringcovid
