January is Stalking Awareness Month. Stalking is not talked about as much as other forms of relationship violence, but it is a serious and harmful crime. Please follow along as we share information and resources throughout the month. Image is a blue background, with teal Centre Safe logo towards the bottom, with text that reads "January is Stalking Awareness Month. Speak up Against Stalking. Stalking is a pattern of behavior, targeting a specific person, that causes fear. This might look like following, repeat contact, surveillance (in person or online), spreading rumors, and threats. Usually the stalker is a current or ex-romantic partner, friend or acquaintance; they may also be someone the victim does not know. Stalking is scary, dangerous, and a crime. Help is Available 24 Hours. Confidential. Free. Professional. 877-234-5050"
Happy New Year!
If a survivor tells you their story, here are examples of supportive things you can say:
On this last day of 2020, we want to thank you for your support and the ways you have shown up for survivors, our staff, and our community! This year has shown more than ever that it takes all of us looking out for one another to create change.
Happy #PurpleThursday! Purple Thursday is one of our favorite ways to celebrate survivors during #DVAM.
