Janice A. Steelman (Miller) born September 11, 1936 passed away on Oct 27th while residing at the Gardens of Tunkhannock. Her husband, Charles passed away in 2016. Janice retired from Prudential Ins where she worked as a claims adjuster and was a graduate of Roxbury High School, NJ. She loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren. Baking was one of her passions and she was proud of her many ribbons from the Harford Fair. Joan Geraldine Smith Sickler, born April 10,1932 to the late Marshall and Eunice Deats Smith, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 3 at home. Her husband Leland passed away in 2017. Joan was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, and the Gideon’s Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Waverly High School. She enjoyed drawing, painting, gardening, and entertaining her children’s friends in her home. She was a great help on her husband’s dairy farm. She’s survived by her chil...dren: Daniel (Kathie), Dean (Marjorie), Laurie (Doug) Strong, Lynn (Ron) Wilson, Gail (Ivan) Wilson, nineteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her sisters Faye Matthews and Elaine Mack; brothers Marshall and Calvin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 11 am at Lynn and Ron Wilson’s home, 85 Rogers Lane, Tunkhannock, PA. Interment will be in the South Eaton Cemetery. Loren George "Butch" Alden passed away on Oct. 2, 2020. Loren was born on March 21, 1949, the son of the late Loren and Gladys Pratt Alden of Nicholson, Pa. Loren graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School class of 1967. He continued his education at Johnson School of Technology before embarking on a 30-year career at Procter and Gamble, Mehoopany. He retired in 1997 and for many years enjoyed dividing his time between Nicholson and Cape Canaveral, Florida. For the last seve...ral years he has resided in Factoryville, Pa. Throughout his life Loren enjoyed hunting, landscaping and collecting antiques. He was a member of the American Legion in Nicholson and the VFW in Lenox, Moose Lodge 1276 in Tunkhannock, and the Community Bible Church in Tunkhannock. Loren is survived by two sons, Timothy Manzer, Scranton; and Timothy Alden, Dalton; three brothers, William Pratt (Marti), Tunkhannock; Donald Pratt (JoAnn), Nicholson; and Robert Pratt, Minoa, N.Y.; one sister, Ann Johnson (Glenn), Maryville, Tenn.; and his cousin, George Alden (Micki), Tunkhannock. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Bauer Hayes (Jerry). The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Lauren Nicholls and the entire ICU team at GCMC in Scranton for their compassionate care. Funeral arrangements are through the Charles H. Robert Herman passed into the hands of the Lord on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, at the age of 85. Bob was born in 1935 in Fort Wayne, Ind., and graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1953. He married Elaine Herman of West Nicholson in 1957 and was married for 56 years until her death in 2014. Bob joined the United States Air Force in 1954, where he served for 27 years including service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His assignments included stateside time in Texas, Alaska, M...aryland, Mississippi, New York and Illinois, and overseas in Scotland, Turkey, North Africa (now Libya), Taiwan, Korea, and Belgium. He and Elaine then returned to her family farm in West Nicholson in 1981. Following his Air Force career, he worked for 15 years as an electronics technician at Bendix/Allied Signal. Bob enjoyed hunting and was passionate about fishing, teaching that skill to his son, grandsons, and great-grandson. He and Elaine were avid square dancers, dancing their way across Europe and landing with the club in Abington. Bob was an accomplished square dance caller. He was a director in the Wyoming County Conservation District for a number of years and volunteered with the Nicholson Fire Company Auxiliary and the Wyoming County Fair. He also raised beef cattle as a hobby. He was an easy-going guy with a sense of humor who loved kids and animals and was well liked by all he was everyone’s favorite uncle. Bob was the son of the late Howard and Mary Jo Herman of Tunkhannock. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Tilton (Tom); daughter-in-law, Joanne Wisniewski; brother, Tom Herman of Tunkhannock; sister, Betty Rosselot of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, Elaine; son, Steve Herman; and brother, Bill Herman. A funeral service will be held at West Nicholson United Methodist Church at 11:30 on Monday, Oct. 12 following family visitation time from 10 to 11:30. Interment will follow the service at Nicholson Cemetery (approximately 12:15) with a luncheon at the church directly thereafter. Arrangements are being handled by the Charles H.
