Here's a Pittsburgh tradition with a Brookline Connection. It is a standard local basement toilet, sitting exposed in a dull corner, once a popular option in o...ld Steel City homes. This one, however, is special, and you may have seen it before. It was photographed a few years ago and attached to a short article on the "Pittsburgh Potty." Since then it has become a popular image for an assortment of yinzer memes. What makes it special is that it is our own secondary 1927 model family loo. and this power flusher does come in handy. The Pittsburgh Pottys do have a unique history. In the basement, they are often placed near an overhead shower nozzle that stands above an exposed drain. Factory workers covered in dirt often came home and went straight to the basement shower and privy before coming upstairs. It's all part of our rust belt and coal town heritage.
