#ChathamLoveStory You can submit your own Chatham Love Story at the link in our bio! Meet Christina Sahovey '11 and Patrick Smith I met my boyfriend, Patrick Smith, on August 28, 2015. While not on campus, we met *because* of Chatham! We met at 5801, the bar in Shadyside, as we were both there to wish a fond farewell to Cori Begg (former Director of Alumni Relations). Since I had been involved with Chatham’s Alumni Association and had become chummy with Cori during her time ...at Chatham, she invited me to her party; and since Patrick had worked with her at Beatty House/ Institutional Advancement (he worked in Chatham’s Advancement Office from 2013-2014 and had also become good friends with Cori), she invited him along with some other current and former Chatham colleagues. Patrick and I had met at a few alumni events prior to that when I attended as an alum, and he was staffing the event but had never chatted prior to Cori’s farewell party at 5801. We totally hit it off that night, and I sincerely doubt I would’ve met him had it not been for Chatham, an invite from Cori, and a last-minute decision on my part to go! Patrick and I have been together ever since, about 5 and a half years! (Moral of the story: stay in touch with the Alumni Association and attend alumni events, since you never know who you’ll meet there!) Submit a story:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/chathamlovestory

#ChathamProud Jessica Byrd '09 was featured in TIME for the 2021 TIME100 Next list which is an expansion of its TIME100 franchise that highlights 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future. You can read Jessica's feature at the link below! "The best leaders of our time are the ones about whose visions people hear and say, 'That’s never going to happen.' They have a vision so big that when they proclaim it, you might think they’re out of their minds. But then you watch them get to workand succeed." - by Alicia Garza on Jessica Byrd. https://time.com/collecti/time100-next-2021//jessica-byrd/

#ChathamLoveStories Meet Carly Anne Hicks '11 and Caiden Fratangelo '14 "Caiden and I met when he was a first year, and I was a senior at Chatham. We have many fond memories together on campus; in fact, we both remember introducing ourselves for the first time at a Student Activities bingo night event. We were both members of the swim team, and Caiden would come visit me while I worked as a lifeguard. Almost 10 years later, we are engaged to be married in June 2021, having bo...ught our first home together in 2020. We are grateful to have found each other during the one year at Chatham in which our lives overlapped." In honor of Valentine's Day, Chatham University Archives & Special Collections is taking a look back to September 1, 1951 when two sisters tied the knot in a double wedding at the heart of Chatham's campus. In what must be the single most romantic day on campus, Carol O. Thorne `46 wed William Collins King as her sister Phoebe Anne Thorne `50 wed William Birmingham with their sister and flower girl Marianne Thorne Wright '55 by their side. Chatham is grateful to Louise King Sturgess and Joan Birmingham Black for sharing beautiful photographs and video footage of this most special day in their family history.

Alumni Association Board #MemberMonday! Meet Meaghan Clohessy '14! Involvement while a student at Chatham: Assistant Editor, Minor Bird; Film Reviewer, The Communique, Creative Writing Club, Drama Club. Favorite Chatham memory or space on campus: The patio outside Café Rachel, where I would have my iced coffee and notebook open to scribbled, half-baked stories, staring out at an empty quad in the late afternoon. It is a calm space, cathartic. ... Why did you want to be involved in the Alumni Association Board? I want to strengthen Chatham’s alumni base in Washington, DC while helping draw more prospective students from the Midwest.
