Although Children's Village is being tested as never before, we continue to experience JOY from connecting with children and nurturing their growth and development. In our on-site and virtual classrooms (below), children are discovering, exploring, sharing, creating, and learning. We only made it through this year because of you and we are immensely grateful. We look forward to the new year ahead and extend our best wishes to you all. Happy Holidays!

Let's end this week with some good news! We are excited to announce that Children's Village was selected to receive a $10,000 grant from GIANT and The Hershey Company to support our child care facility during the COVID-19 pandemic! We were selected from more than 1,000 applicants. Thank you GIANT and Hershey! And thank you to our teachers and staff for everything you do to keep our programs going. Children’s Village’s infant program (6 weeks - 13 months) provides a safe, secure, warm and caring environment for your baby to grow and thrive. The program welcomes infants ages 6 weeks and older, with full-time or part-time availability. There is one teacher for every four infants, and the program takes care to adhere to the highest quality of state and national standards. Play and nurturing relationships are at the heart of the active learning curriculum in the infant prog...ram. Inspired by the HighScope curriculum, the teaching team guides early experiences toward a lifelong love of learning, at each child’s individual pace. In close partnership and daily communication with parents, a consistent yet flexible schedule is followed to create an environment in which children feel loved and secure. The infant learning environment encourages movement, curiosity, exploration, and communication in all of its forms. We embrace best practices to achieve the best outcomes for each child! For our preschool program, the curriculum introduces the basic skills and concepts reflected in local and national standards. Children’s books inspire the themes that make learning fun for preschoolers. A unit on our bodies and feelings leads to a study of home and family. Exploring friendship includes a look at peaceful problem-solving. Learning about our neighborhood and community extends to a broader aw...areness of language, culture, and geography world-wide. Children learn scientific method as they observe and research the life cycles of plants and animals. The study of each theme integrates literacy, math, science, and social studies, with a year-long emphasis on reading and writing skills. Through the Preschool Program’s coordinated thematic study and well-planned classroom learning centers, children actively explore and come to new understandings about themselves, their families, their communities, and the world! To learn more about our preschool program, go to Childrensvillagephila.org or call (215) 931-0190. ** We accept child care subsidy (ELRC). The Preschool Program may be funded by Head Start, PreK Counts, PHL-PreK, or families may pay privately. #childcare #preschool #highquality #headstart #prekcounts #phlprek #childcaresubsidy #literacy #colors

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please click on the link below to tell Governor Wolf and the General Assembly that reinstating child care subsidy payments based on attendance effective September 1st will greatly compromise child care centers across PA. https://actionnetwork.org//stop-the-reinstatement-of-child Today is the first day of public school in Philadelphia. Across the city families are trying to figure out the best and safest option for their child. Some have no choice but ...to have their children return to group care. But many other families want to wait and see just how safe it is. They need reassurance that their child care provider will follow best practices and keep their child safe and healthy. For some families, they may wait a few weeks to see if centers are closing because of COVID. Or they are waiting to hear from their friends if the center is following CDC guidelines. To arbitrarily impose a September 1st deadline hurts children. It hurts families. It hurts providers. See more
