Hello friends of Christ Church. We want to inform you about a significant development that God has brought to our church. Through a series of events, Covenant Community Church of University City, a sister church of ours in Trinity Fellowship Churches, has come to the conclusion that they were no longer viable as a local church. As they were walking through a process of discerning their future as a church, Pastor Ian McConnell approached our leadership to see if we would ...consider adopting their church and bringing him on our staff at Christ Church. We took several months to pray, fast, have many conversations as a leadership team, consult with our advisory team, get input from leaders outside our church and discuss this with our Christ Church family. Through this process, we have come to believe that moving forward with this adoption is the will of the Lord for us and something that God wants to do to position us for even greater fruit in His mission. Our desire is not just to grow bigger as a church, but to grow broader through planting other churches out of our church. We are passionate about church planting and we believe this adoption will help us pursue that goal even more effectively. So as of November 1st, Covenant Community Church will be adopted by Christ Church and Pastor Ian McConnell will be coming on our staff and go through an affirmation and installation process with our congregation in early 2021. It is always a sad thing when a local church has to close their doors. However, we believe that our Good Shepherd is providing care for His flock through this and is bringing us together to do something substantial in our city for the fame of His name. Please pray for our church, for Pastor Ian and his family, as well as, the former members of Covenant Community Church as we go through a process of transition together.
