Today, we wanted to give you a Project Progress update (& some history!) on Mamie Nichols Townhomes... Mamie Nichols Townhomes is named after the late, long-standing community activist who believed that doing something positive, like beautifying a vacant lot, starts a wave of pride that washes over the entire community. (See 2nd photo for mural dedicated to her by @muralarts!) This project aims to instill neighborhood pride with a welcoming, brightly lit community space ...and 33 rental units occupying vacant parcels scattered over two city blocks that are within mile of each other. Just like it's namesake, this project will help enliven the once overlooked Philadelphia neighborhood of Point Breeze.
