A couple of weeks ago the CFD responded to assist the Carbondale Police Department with retrieving some property from on a rooftop. Firefighters arrived and ut...ilized a ladder to retrieve a broken pair of Beats headphones. CPD officers told the crew that they belonged to a local special needs teen and some kids had stolen them, broken them and thrown them onto the roof. They also told the crew that the headphones were a Christmas present. Realizing that something had to be done, Carbondale firefighter Adam Scotchlas began collecting money from members of the Fire and Police Departments in order to replace the broken headphones. In all members of both departments donated nearly $300. Tonight, Adam and members of the CFD presented a new pair of Beats headphones, along with some giftcards to the teen. Great job Adam and members of the CFD and CPD!
