Civil War Stuff & More

These photos are hard to share, but we know so many of you wish you were here and cannot be. This is the progression of the demolition. It took about 4 hours to come down and the cleanup of debris will continue for the next 1-2 days. We were able to salvage a tiny bit of merchandise before demo began. Big shoutout to CE Williams. Their team is incredibly patient, kind and compassionate. We are also grateful to Darryl Wheeler from the Gettysburg Times. He provided a lot of emotional support and help in clearing out some merchandise! It was bittersweet to watch but we had to stand guard and salute her to the very end. BUT OUR FLAG WAS STILL THERE...Our family is devastated by the loss of our first gift shop and office location- the main hub to Strickland Enterprises, Inc. We opened the Blue and Gray Gift Shop over 40 years ago and our business is currently in its third generation of ownership. Despite the destruction caused by the fire, we are amazed that our American flag came away unscathed. It blew in the wind today as a beacon of hope (see photos). We recovered the flag and plan to d...isplay it in the future as a sign of the Phoenix rising from the ashes. Unfortunately the building is unsafe and has to be demolished.
