Since the pandemic began at least 1 ABA member bookstore has gone out of business every week. Covid-19 was the cause of death but Amazon was the precondition. #boxedout #shopindie

Happy Prime Day! Does anyone feel weird about making a $1.6 trillion company even richer? Never forget that you can be a community supporter or an Amazon shopper but you can't be both. #boxedout #shopindie

A wealthy prince throws a huge party in his mansion during an epidemic for his asymptomatic friends while all the peasants are dying. Then the virus shows up and tears through the party and all the fancy guests begin to die. Sound familiar? Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe. Published in Graham's Magazine in 1842. Tis the season for reading Poe. Check out the illustrations from various editions of the story. Aubrey Beardsley, Arthur Rackham and Harry Clarke. Get your own Poe collection at Classic LInes.

When the Coronavirus pandemic hit many great new winter and spring releases sort of fell through the cracks. Suggie Bain by Douglas Stuart if one of the best of those. There's a reason it's been selected as both a National Book Award finalist and a Booker Prize finalist. It's a coming of age story, set in Glasgow, of a young boy trying vainly to cure his mother's alcoholism. Through her sobered up period highs to her relapsing lows Shuggie keep trying to help her get cured. Originally released in February the paperback edition goes on sale October 13. Watch for this one. You'll love it. Email us to order [email protected]

She fought the good fight and we're all in a better place for it. May RBG rest in peace.
