A BEAUTIFUL FIREPLACE I cannot take credit for what I'm about to show you. I saw something similar to it on the internet. I had a typical mid century red brick fireplace. There's pretty brick and then there's what I had to work with. I covered the brick with a birch plywood leaving several inches of brick surround for texture. I painted the brick one of the predominant colors in the room and the birch plywood white. I saw an ad for a mantle with Pottery Barn (I think it was) and knew it would be an easy fit with the mantle I was working with. It consists of trim that you can find at Home Depot or Lowes. The trim I bought was 4 inches wide which gave me 3 surrounds on the face of the mantle. The result is really lovely. It is good looking and can go into a man's or woman's world. Subtle, yet stylish. What do you think?
