VOLUNTEERS are needed for our upcoming Trick or Treat Trail on Halloween afternoon! Help hand out candy on the trail, or another activity. Dress up in fun costume; if you dress up as a tree, flower an environmental or nature related character we will give you special gift. Social distancing, special face masks, and gloves will be part of your outfit! Please call the Center and leave a message for Tony Croasdale at 215-685-1900.

A young red-tailed hawk has been hanging around our Center the last two days. This majestic bird treated us to an up-close viewing today. It had just finished eating a small rodent. We wish it luck in further hunts. (It tried unsuccessfully yesterday in multiple attempts to capture a squirrel.) The juvenile bird doesn't have the signature rufous color of its parent birds.

Philadelphia Orchard Project is here planting 7 pawpaw trees. This native tree produces absolutely delicious fruit, sometimes called custard apples.

Cobbs Creek CEC was contacted about an injured hawk in West Philly. Tony Croasdale, our Director, helped to rescue the bird. Good samaritans Regina and her daughter Alienna are taking the Cooper's Hawk to the Schuylkill Center rehab clinic. The bird has an injured wing and foot. Thanks to all!
