Dr. Robert L. Roschel ’54 and his wife Anna Roschel have committed to gifting the College $6.5 million, staged over several years, to officially name New College House. Henceforth, New College will be known as Roschel College House, President Altmann said.

On October 2nd and 3rd, the F&M Theater and Dance department put on their annual Fall Dance Event. However, this year, it took place socially-distanced, on the Armstrong North Field behind College Row. Pieces were choreographed by Faculty members, Jennifer Conley and Pamela Vail, along with a guest artist, Magira Ross.

On Wednesday, September 23, the Campus Climate Survey released the full report of the Campus Climate Survey conducted last year. The report, totaling more than 400 pages, provided data on the responses of more than 1,500 students, faculty, and professional staff and covered a range of topics centered around respondents’ feelings regarding the overall climate at F&M. The College Reporter created a collection of graphics that detail some of the important findings to come out of the report.

Bail modifications occurred this morning for the Lancaster Protesters arrested early in the week, including for Franklin & Marshall College Junior Kathryn (Kat) Patterson, whose bail was originally set at $1 million. Patterson’s bail was reset to $50,000 unsecured after petition by Judge Dennis Reinaker, former Lancaster County President Judge.

Early Monday morning, Kat Patterson, a Franklin & Marshall Junior, was arrested by Lancaster Police during a night of protests following the death of Ricardo Muñoz on Sunday afternoon. Shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, residents of Brooks College House received an email notifying them of a recent wastewater testing result and requiring all residents in Marshall and Buchanan dorms to immediately quarantine and sign up for a mandatory COVID-19 test on Tuesday.

Many members of the F&M community participated in last week's Scholar Strike put on by the Black Student Union. "In the middle of a pandemic, people came together to voice their frustrations about police brutality and support our organization. said Rachel St Louis, President of F&M's BSU. As the College wrapped-up its first two rounds of COVID-19 entry testing for all students last week, hundreds of students had still not completed entry testing, some students had never even received first tests, and turnout for the first round of surveillance testing lacked.

Late Sunday evening, hundreds of protesters began gathering outside the Lancaster police station and closed off Prince Street downtown, following the shooting of a Lancaster man by a police officer a mile away from Franklin and Marshall.
