Colonial Regional Police Department 24.12.2020

Good Morning!! Last night was quite a storm, but thanks to all of our road crews from Lower Nazareth, Hanover and PENNDOT, most roads are cleared and passable. Today for the big dig out we want to remind people of a few laws to keep in mind. 1. When clearing your driveways and sidewalks, please don't throw/blow your snow into the roadway. This makes it hazardous for passing vehicles as well as makes more work for the road crews to need to make additional passes to clear t...he roads. 2. Please clear your vehicle COMPLETELY of all snow and ice before driving. Below is a link to the text of the law itself, but in summary, all windows shall be clear of snow and ice when driving. 3. If any snow/ice falls from your vehicle and causes serious bodily injury or death, there are additional penalties. https://www.legis.state.pa.us///HTM/75/00.045.024.000..HTM

Last group for tonight. We will post some more pics tomorrow when the next shift comes out. Please be safe out there. The roads are very treacherous and the wind is causing large drifts. Slow down and take you time if you must travel.

Ok everybody, it's happening! We are starting to see some flakes fall in the Bethlehem/Nazareth area! We would like to remind people to remove your vehicles from the roadway and don't go out if you absolutely don't need to. It's forecasted to be very bad out later today and overnight. Some other tips to remember: -if your power goes out, it is best to report it to your local power provider. Don't call 911 unless it is an emergency.... -if your power does go out and you use a backup generator, please use it in a well ventilated area outside of your home. -please clear out around any fire hydrants in your neighborhood. Hanover and Hecktown will lose precious minutes in an emergency situation if they need to first dig out a hydrant to use it. See more
