New signs are going up! One step closer to opening in May 2021.

We are now in full swing of recruiting vendors for a May 2021 opening. We are looking for a wide array of vendors from fresh produce and meats, to prepared foods and flowers. Market days are Wednesday 10-6 and Saturday 7-3. We have 3 turn-key stands available (pictured), or you can build your own stand to meet your needs. The aisles in the Market House are going back to their original herringbone brick pattern, and oh is it beautiful.

Thank you to LNP + LancasterOnline for featuring the market house in today’s paper. We are excited to see the completion of the building on the horizon. In the coming months, we will be heavily recruiting locally sourced, fresh food vendors to operate in the market for shoppers on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting in the Spring of 2021.

Step one in bringing our beautiful brick floor back to life. The herringbone pattern will be laid meticulously in the aisles of the market house. The building construction will wrap up at the end of this month. Stay tuned for announcements on the opening of Gypsy Kitchen and vendor recruitment.

Renovations continue to progress at the Market House!

The market site is a flurry of movement and progress since the resumption of construction last month. The inside of the market is starting to taking shape, the bathrooms are being re-built, the kitchen steel is in, and the HVAC system is finding it’s home up above. The concrete has been laid, inlet in the isles for the historic brick to be placed back in its original pattern. While we are a couple of months behind schedule due to COVID-19, the building renovation will wrap up... later this year, and you can expect to start to see activity in the building before the new year. #columbiapamarkethouse #columbiamarkethouse #columbiapa #farmersmarket #historicrenovation

During demo, the construction crew found newspapers in the Market House bathroom wall dating back to November 15, 1943. We thank whoever left them there for safe keeping, giving us a peek into history 76 years later.

Things are really piling up around here, feeling confident about the progress of the renovation. These beauties are staying safe on pallets until they make their new life in their original home.

Construction is in full swing at the Market House. East Coast Contracting is hard at work making way for the new bathrooms, painting the ceiling and cleaning the historic brick to be re-laid later in the project. Things are moving quickly, check back frequently for more updates.

Settled along the banks of the Susquehanna, Columbia is experiencing a renaissance of development and community growth. A true gem of the downtown, the Columbia Market House, which dates back to 1869, is making a comeback in 2020. Through a partnership between the Borough of Columbia and local non-profit, CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health, the Market will undergo renovations in the coming months and open as a thriving center for fresh foods and gathering.
