Correct the appearance of hyperpigmentation with a chemical peel treatment from #CrossMedicalGroup! This patient recently had a child and was experiencing the "mask of pregnancy": a hormone-induced discoloration of the skin known as melasma. Melasma can also occur due to sun damage, irritated skin, and/or a genetic predisposition. Ledia, a Clinical Aesthetician at Cross Medical Group, treated this patient with a chemical peel to even out her complexion. First, the skin was cl...eansed and dermaplaned to remove oils, debris, and dead skin. After, the trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel was applied to the face which further exfoliates the skin and also stimulates new skin cell growth. Once the exfoliation process begins, the skin begins to "frost" or turns white from the peel. To follow, a post-peel mask was applied to neutralize the TCA and soothe the skin. This treatment is great for correcting the appearance of pigmentation, acne scars, and fine lines and wrinkles. After a few days of peeling, the treated skin looks more youthful and even in color and texture.
