C.S. Davidson hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Wrightsville Borough Municipal Authority Water Treatment Plant pumping system improvements project this afternoon. Our team was joined by the Wrightsville Borough Municipal Authority (Fred Smith, Chairman, and Brian Lyle, General Manager), State Representative Keith Gillespie, Kevin Eck from State Representative Stan Saylor’s office, along with representatives from the construction contractor, PSI, and electrical contrac...tor Monocacy Valley. The project involves Water Treatment Plant Pump Replacements and a Susquehanna River Water Intake Pumping Station. The Quarry pumps being replaced are the sole delivery method for raw water to the water treatment plant. The project will ensure both primary pumping capacity and backup capacity, increasing the reliability of the treatment process. The current Susquehanna River intake pump station will be replaced, and this will stabilize the flow of raw water to the quarry, even during low flow periods. The project was recently approved for a Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) H2O PA Program grant in the amount of $1,000,000 to complete the necessary work.

We hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Bridge 274, located on Singer Road over the Heritage Rail Trail in New Freedom Borough, York County. Background Information: The structure, originally built in 1905, is a 64-foot long single-span Warren truss bridge. It became eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017 as this type of structure is becoming scarce throughout Pennsylvania. The bridge deck and structural steel members w...ere in poor condition due to significant corrosion, which affected the structure’s load capacity. The truss was relocated nearby for inspection and restoration. Repairs and rehabilitation items included replacing deteriorated stringers, floorbeams, and removing previous retrofit details from the fracture-critical members; installing safety barriers, and; blasting and repainting the structure. Ultimately, the scope of work improved the load-carrying capacity and overall safety of the bridge. The rehabilitated structure retains its historical significance as the renovations did not compromise the bridge’s historical features.

C.S. Davidson is committed to the communities we’re located in, and we strive to be a good neighbor by improving our facilities to complement the community. In York, we are continuing our facility improvements by completing a full window replacement project on one of our buildings - more images to follow upon completion. Not only will this project increase the building’s energy efficiency, but it will also maintain and enhance the historic look of the structure, providing CSD with a beautiful home for the future.
