Given the pandemic, "Shop with A Cop" looked a bit different this year. As evidenced by the mountain of gifts and packages in Meadville City Police Sergeant V...ince Trenga's office, it was more like "A Cop Went to Shop!" Sergeant Trenga worked with the various schools to identify 30 deserving students. He, Meadville Police Officer Nick Mogel and Cambridge Springs Chief Tad Acker purchased gifts, then a team of elves from F.O.P. Lodge 97 and City staff led by School Safety Officer Trenga did the wrapping. Deliveries were made by another team of elves that included Meadville City Police and officers from neighboring police depts and the State Police. Shop with a Cop this year was funded by a $2500 grant from Walmart and donations from the FOP and Meadville Auxiliary Police. Held annually for over a dozen years, the officers have always looked forward to going shopping with the kids, not for them. Thankfully, not even COVID could stop them from making Christmas a little brighter this year.

I would strongly encourage all of our local businesses to do this.

Sgt Lee Woodworth's last shift with the Cambridge Springs Police Department was last night. Lee left to take a full time position with the Corry Police Department. As a result, Chief Acker is assuming the role of the Department's K9 handler for K9 Lator. Chief Acker and Lator have been busy creating their bond and training together. We would like to thank Knicks Bed and Biscuit, Lake Erie K9 Concepts and K9 Officer Landon Silva and retired K9 handler Tracy Labow for all their assistance during this transition.

We have been having political signs stolen from the yards of residents here in town. If you are caught stealing political signs from yards you will be charged with trespass and theft!

Recently the K9 unit came in to visit GHS and RAMS. Officer Landon Silva, Edinboro PD and his K9 partner, Kenzo, along with Officer Lee Woodworth, Cambridge Springs PD and partner, Lator. #GirardBuzz
