To dermaplane or not to dermaplane? Here are the deets about dermaplaning: Your hair DOESN’T grow back longer or darker! (Common question!) However your hair is before your dermaplane, it will grow back just the same. It DOESN’T hurt! As long as your skincare specialist isn’t using Amazon-quality blades, this will feel like an amazing but gentle exfoliation!... This is shouldn’t be done at home! The plastic disposables you can snag at Target & TJ Maxx can actually damage your skin more than help it! If you’re in need of a dermaplane, skip the at-home version and wait for your professional! Benefits of a Dry Structure Gel Mani: no soaking in acetone which causes dry, brittle nails & cuticles (brittle nails cause breakage and peeling down the road!) when structure gel grows out, we only remove the gel color on top. The base coat and structure remain, so we never prep that part of your nail again. This keeps your natural nails healthy because we don’t remove fully & re-prep at each mani!... with each mani, we layer structure gel so your nails continue to be strong. We never let it get too thick or bulky so we slim it down and move the apex as needed! structure gel is soak-off gel with a thick viscosity. This gives it the properties of being easy to remove if needed but also strong enough for our hairdresser & nurse clients! dry manicures allow us to complete all cuticle work without water or cuticle remover (harsh acid-based products that cause lifting). Soaking in water first to soften cuticles also causes your natural nails and cuticles to swell which later results in peeling gel! October 10 came and passed and I didn’t know if I should write anything here about it. Mental health is so important, and honestly more important than physical health most days to me. In this industry we all joke that us stylists are your therapists.. and it’s so true! We listen to your lows and celebrate your wins! I know the friendships I have made with clients through some of these tough conversations are my favorite people ever! this year has been tough for me for so ma...ny reasons. You never really know what battles someone is fighting silently and for that reason alone, kindness needs to be first. She probably isn’t posting the hard stuff on social media. Maybe the person you’re bullying is coping with post-partum depression and the next thing you say could be it. Maybe the guy you’re trolling just lost his job and has a family to feed. Maybe someone you’re snickering at just had a miscarriage. Maybe the mom working from home and teaching 4 kids common core math just can’t do it anymore. This year has taken a toll on everyone’s mental health whether it’s slowed you down or made you pivot, we’re all human and trying to figure out the best way to be us. Take a deep breath and think about those maybes. If you need to talk, I’m here I don’t have all the answers, but I have ears for listening and arms for hugging. See more
