Post 3 If you have an issue with costume sizing, do not panic. Historically, we aren't perfect- however, we are able to adjust, alter, & at times, exchange. Email us. Dance Costumes are constructed to be form fitting. If you received a pair of tights that you deem too big/too small, DO NOT open that package. Email us & we can exchange. If you are missing anything, email us.... Please do not wait until last min to try on costumes. The more time I have to adjust, the better! Costumes handout is organized by main day based on individual dancers this yr, not families. If you do not receive costume or sibling costume, ask. Strawberry Snails order form will be sent out soon! Covid has put a crunch on things- here is what is of note Lyrical 1 & Hip Hop 3+4 have been reordered and will be handed out when they arrive. Contemporary 6 is currently stuck on a freight. I will email you as soon as I've reached a resolve. Hip Hop 5 will arrive mid week.

Post 2 As we begin costume handout today, Please note: 1. Alterations (hems, straps) may be needed & are the responsibility of parent. Be sure to consider growth of the child before cutting fabric. 2. Tutus & some other fabrics cannot be ironed. Steam them!!! Check with staff if not sure.... 3. Do not allow your child to play in or with the costumes. 4. Pants will require hemming. You can sew or use iron on hem. 5. Wear tights (Included) for picture & performances only. Level 4 and up will not be tan tights. 6. Order Shoes most cost effectively from DiscountDance.com. Use our teacher code: TP44059. Please consider growth of child when ordering. 7. All Intro, Pre Dance, and Level 1 classes need PINK ballet shoes and BLACK tap shoes. Level 2 and above require BLACK oxford taps, PINK ballet shoes, and BLOCH PULSE TAN jazz shoe. POST 1 COSTUME HANDLING REMINDERS We are very excited that your child will be participating in Dance in Color DEAC Student Production 2021! The following are policies regarding costume maintenance. Compliance with them will ensure that your child has the best recital experience.... To assure a quality fit, we have measured your child. If there is any tailoring that needs to be done, it is the responsibly of the parent. Sizes have been ordered to best accommodate your child’s size requirements. (Item can always be altered smaller, not larger). Do not allow your child to wear the costume until the performance. Be sure your hands & child’s hands are clean when handling the costume. Do not consume food or drink while wearing costume. Tights & other accessories are for performance only. Place costume hanging in a high-quality garment bag upon receipt & store in a closet to keep them protected from siblings & pets. To remove wrinkles, please do NOT iron. Ironing could change the color, burn the fabric, & deteriorate the material. Steaming is a safe option. Each item of costuming (including footwear) must be labeled with your child’s name & CANNOT be replaced. Create a recital checklist for every item for every costume. Refer to the list before you leave for pictures & performance venue. Apply makeup & hair before putting costume on to keep it clean. If after performance, you want the costume cleaned, check with your dry cleaner for the best process. Some cleaning methods can ruin the fabric & trims. REMEMBER: YOU ONLY HAVE ONE COSTUME. COSTUME UPDATE As you know, Covid-19 has effected businesses both large & small. Unfortunately, despite being ordered in early Dec, our Lyrical 1 and Hip Hop 3+4 costume is sitting on freight in a harbor and not reaching us due to lack of employees to unload and ship. They were suppose to be shipped several times and I have made the decision to cancel the order and create a new look by mixing and matching different pieces. Due to this change, the Hip Hop & Lyrical will arrive early next week! In 11 years, this is the 1st time I have ever had to alter my original choices. Thank you so much for your understanding!

As snow piles accumulate & the parking lot shrinks further, driver safety in our lot is imperative. When night falls, it is even more important that we stay aware of our little ones and take turns to exit. We try as a staff to make sure that our kids are watched entering and exiting but as a collective, we can do a better job of parking lot safety. Stay Alert & Drive Slowly Drop Off Parking Spot is for Drop Offs ONLY, in and out. Parents should not park outside of th...e building windows by the sidewalk or front door and/or create spots that are NOT marked in front of the building. Not only does this create bad vision for our staff sending kids out but a hazard in the event of an emergency. Anticipate the actions of other drivers and excited children coming in and out of class. Due to the continued Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 am tomorrow, we will be switching to VIRTUAL LESSONS for Monday 2-1-21 out of caution for travel and in conjunction with the closure or virtual learning of our local school districts. Visit Zoom.us Click JOIN A MEETING... Type in Meeting ID provided via email. Enter the password. Based on the current forecast, we expect to reopen on tomorrow. VIRTUAL LEARNING Think of your virtual classroom as your real classroom. Proper dancewear & polished hair is necessary to "feeling" like you are in class. Be sure your room is free from objects that might be dangerous or impede movement. Advanced & Intermediate Ballet students are encouraged to have a chair to act as the ballet barre. Etiquette Reminders Remind your dancer to keep mic muted unless instructed otherwise by the teacher. Virtual backgrounds are not appropriate for the dance class room. We prefer our dancers to NOT use the chat feature. It is difficult in a movement based class. Do not repeatedly turn on & off your video feature unless instructed. Think of your zoom as your dance classroom, no eating snacks or sitting in class. Helpful Zoom Tips & Tricks! Mac computers at times have connection issues & errors- try an iPad or kindle if your mac isn't connecting Verify you are typing the correct ID. Most issues have been resolved by complete & accurate typing of IDS. Restart your computer Begin your session in advance so that there is time to trouble shoot if needed. If you can, connect to the internet via an ethernet cable. Zoom works well on wireless all the way down to 3G, but the quality is best on a solid wired internet connection, so wire in when you can. Otherwise, just make sure you have serviceable Wi-Fi. Lastly-at DEAC- we are simply users of Zoom. We cannot modify or fix the operating system. We cannot log in to your account or look more closely at the issues. If your zoom account is not functioning or having additional errors, my best suggestion would be to contact zoom after following through with necessary troubleshooting. Thank You! DEAC CREATIVE TEAM
