When is the best time of year to be pre qualified and looking for homes?? The week before Thanksgiving until Dec 31. Why?? Because most buyers put house hunting on the back burner. The get caught up in the holidays (which is not a bad thing lol) but house hunting is not a priority. Which in turn makes the market a lot slower. The sellers then start lowering the prices on homes so they can sell their home. Which is perfect for you! You could get a bargain on a home that you no...rmally wouldn't get on a home. Also, looking at homes during the late fall and wintertime is a huge benefit to you. You get to see the house and how it handles the snow and the cold weather. Whether it's the roof and making sure it doesn't leak, or the gutters handling the snow. Or the pipes dealing with the freezing temperatures of winter. It can be a great way for you to see the condition of the home. Now I always recommend a home inspection. And that would tell you for sure what condition the home is in. But this is just a quick and easy way for you to check yourself But probably the biggest benefit of being pre qualified before Dec 31st is you get pre qualified before the New years resolutioners. There is nothing wrong with making buying a house your new years resolution, but there is a tremendous uptick in buyers on Jan 1st.
