Darlington Volunteer Fire Company 27.12.2020

2021 has brought some change to our fire company. After 37 years as our Chief, Bob McDowell has retired from the lead position. You will still see him around the station as he will remain active but has passed the position over to Assistant Chief Kurt Rose. Chief McDowell requested to become our Fire Police Captain, a small but often times vital role that is a much less stressful position. Since 1983 Chief McDowell has led our company with continued growth and stability. Duri...ng his tenure he has never let us stay the same and always kept us open to change and strive for the better. While Chief he has initiated, overseen, or just sometimes gave that needed support on countless projects including the replacement of apparatus, building additions, new equipment purchases, several grants and new ways to fundraise to keep the company going. We are known as a fire company that uses Foam to fight fire and we use it a lot. Chief McDowell did the homework in bringing Compressed Air Foam technology to our company and made us the first in county to be equipped with it 20 years ago. If you see the Chief congratulate him on his retirement and a job well done.
