It was Mandolin morning here at the shop today! Gerry got a lesson on how to change mandolin strings (thanks Chris!) and we got to hear what a huge difference in sound the choice of PICKS makes. So interesting!

A dulcimer came to the shop today for a small repair. Pretty cool, right?!

Meet the newest member of the DMV family! Her mom is also a cellist and long time customer, so this 3 year old budding artist is very excited to begin lessons . It was love at first sight!

Another DMV family member appeared on "From The Top" recently! Bravo Vibha! The gang at the shop are so very proud of you! "Vibha Janakiraman (violin), 15, is from West Chester, Pennsylvania and is in the tenth grade at the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School University Scholars Program. She studies violin with Catherine Cho and Francesca dePasquale through The Julliard School pre-college division. Vibha played violin with the Gray Charitable Trust Advanced Scholarship Piano Trio at the Settlement School and has performed as a soloist with several orchestras in the Philadelphia region. She has a deep connection to both Western and South Indian classical music and also enjoys studying math and Sanskrit."

Dover Quartet is on the cover of The Strad! Inside is the amazing article and we wish them nothing but continued success. Bravo to Joel, Bryan, Milena and Camden!

It is a suspension case, and has a removable accessory pouch and accommodates 4 bows. We love that the music pouch is located on the bottom/back of the case to eliminate the stress on the hinges. An interesting twist to the violin design... A "cornerless violin"...and check out the scroll! This is a modern violin and a rarity! We are preparing a selection of instruments for some lucky musicians to play on with Play On Philly and this is one of them. How cool!

Charlie accompanied his mom to the shop today when she dropped her bow off to be rehaired. We think Charlie was willing to offer some of his for the job, but he didnt appear to be too disappointed that we politely declined.

Bravo Adam! Adam has graduated to a full size violin!! There's a smile under that mask! After trying several instruments and bows, and with the guidance of his teacher Miss Joyce, a winning duo was chosen! Adam, it was an absolute pleasure working with you and your parents! Cheers to many hours of happy practicing!
