The Baltimore Chapter of ASDP had their June ‘Gala’ via zoom this week. We all got dressed up and showed off the fancy masks we made. Looking forward to an occasion to wear mine!
I finally finished my jeans! And a top to wear with them. Started with my well-fitting #eurekapants and used their #sportydetails instructions for getting a closer jeans fit, #jalie jeans pattern for pocket and yoke details. After many trials got the fit pretty good, I think. (There are still some wrinkles in the back, but if I got rid of them, I wouldn’t be able to sit!) Fabric is a lightweight stretch denim, bleached and overprinted from #jsterndesigns Top fabric from #newyorkelegantfabrics and m own design. #asdpglobal #eurekapantsthatfit #isewmyownclothes #memadeeveryday#handmade #isolationcreation #isolationsewing #jsterndesigns #jaliepatterns
Something to do in the spare time you’re going to have.
Patagonia has partnered with iFixit to offer a series of online sewing tutorials that will help people make basic repairs.
Master of color
The current Threads issue is out with the winners of the ASDP/Threads Transformation Challenge. Congrats to Patty Robison - Best Overall; Erin Retelle - Best Color and Shape Shift; Madeline Stage - Most Surprising Metamorphosis; and Robin Bolton - Audience Choice. You really need to see the magazine to see these amazing transformations! The first photo is from the magazine article, the others are photos I took for submission to to the challenge. The last photo is a close-up of the sleeve as a pocket. A big ‘Thank You’ to Susan Gottlieb for so graciously modeling for me. (This was a blind judging so no faces allowed!)
I’d be happy to coach you with your sewing projects.
This is a jacket I made for my friend Carol out of her husband’s ties. I used the FirForArt Tabula Rasa jacket pattern which was a great template for the ties. I deconstructed all the ties (except for the one used for the band) so I could do my own seaming so that the ties would fit the pattern pieces the way I wanted them to.
Good news for the sewing industry.
prehistoric humans were not only concerned with finding warmth in wintry weatherthey also may have dressed in order to communicate social identity, display tribal affiliations, and, indeed, to look good.
I love everything about this - the clothing, the music, the theatrics! Amazing!
This was a great program by a fellow ASDP member with examples of her book, ‘Creating Couture Embellishment’. Amazing detail in her pieces!
I hope you can come!
