The Courthouse and Government Center will be closed to the public on Monday, Feb 1 due to weather conditions.

The County cut the ribbon on our new Wellness Center in Yeadon yesterday- another step in getting a Health Department. The Controller’s office staff stands behind County Council and all the departments as they implement their policies and programs. The event was attended by many Yeadon, local, County and state officials, and even our Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon. We too are patiently waiting for the vaccine and we want to support the folks trying to bring them to Delco.

I was honored to be able to take part in the County’s Covid-19 Memorial this evening with a few of our County colleagues and Council members Brian Zidek, Christine Reuther, Monica Taylor and Elaine Schaefer. The event was streamed live so people could participate virtually. We honored the more than 1000 friends, family, neighbors and fellow residents who have been lost to the virus. There was a candle lit for each person and the bells in Media rang at 5:30 to mark a moment of silence. We all have hope that we emerge soon from this dark time. #delcostrong

Spent part of my day participating in a day of advocacy with HIAS PA. I learned about the need for translation services and language barriers that affect people in our communities. Wonderful to hear so many ideas on how to help others.

The time is always right to do the right thing. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The County and the Controller’s office will be closed to commemorate the holiday. Many people throughout the County will be participating in service projects in honor of Dr. King.

Today, we remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King said "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?" Today many will perform services in his honor. Let's also remember to live every day with that intention, not just one day a year.
