Snow Emergency Declaration Notice This is an important message from the Borough of Denver. Denver Borough has issued a Snow Emergency Declaration effective at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16th. During the existence of a snow emergency it shall be unlawful to park a motor vehicle or to allow that vehicle to remain parked on the side of any snow emergency route designated in which parking is prohibited until the snow emergency is removed. The Snow Emergency Declaration... applies to the following streets which are designated as Snow Emergency Routes in the Borough: Juniper Street from North 5th Street to North 6th Street; Locust Street from North 6th Street to North 4th Street; Main Street from Snyder Street to North 8th Street; Monroe Street from North 3rd Street to Snyder Street; North 3rd Street from Main Street to the Bridge; North 5th Street from Locust Street to Juniper Street; North 6th Street Main Street to the Borough Line; South 4th Street from Main Street to Lancaster Avenue; and, Walnut Street from North 3rd Street to North 8th Street. During the Snow Emergency Declaration, off-street parking is permitted in the Borough’s Main Street Parking Lot (in the spaces not provided for Unruh Insurance); in the Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Parking Lot, and limited to the first two (2) rows of parking rows parallel to Madison Street in the Trinity United Methodist Church Parking Lot. Once the Snow Emergency is lifted, all vehicles must be removed from the off-street parking lots to permit snow removal. Failure to adhere to this restriction may result in the loss of the use of these facilities for Snow Emergency parking. The Borough will issue a similar notice informing you of the date and time that the Snow Emergency is lifted. Denver Borough Council Vacancy Denver Borough Council currently has a vacancy on the Borough Council. The vacant term will expire on the first Monday in January, 2022. The Borough Code requires the Borough Council to fill the vacancy within 30 days by appointing, by resolution, a registered elector of the Borough, to hold the office. To be considered for this appointment, an applicant must be a registered elector in the Borough who has resided within the Borough continuousl...y for at least one (1) year immediately prior to the appointment. If you are interested in being considered to be appointed to fill the remainder of this term, please submit a Letter of Interest to Michael Hession, Borough Manager/Secretary, 501 Main Street, Denver, PA 17517, by Friday, September 25, 2020, detailing your interest in the position. You also will be required to attend the Monday, September 28, 2020 Borough Council Meeting where Borough Council will discuss the position with interested applicants. That meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and is held at the Denver Borough Municipal Building, 501 Main Street, Denver, PA. Please note, masks are required to be worn when entering the municipal building and during the public meeting. You have until Friday August 28th to complete the Active Transportation Plan survey regarding walking, biking, skating, using a wheelchair, and accessing public transportation in the Borough. Your input is greatly appreciated to make this successful and the survey is easy and very user friendly to complete. If you haven’t completed the survey yet the Borough encourages all Borough residents to take the survey and to have a voice in the development of the Borough’s Active Transportation Plan. Denver Skatepark Expansion Project The Cocalico Alternative Sport Association (CASA) currently is working on the next phase of the Denver Skatepark Expansion which includes installing a concrete bowl corner and replacing the existing bank ramp and quarter pipe with permanent concrete features. Funding for this project has been provided through CASA fundraising efforts and matching donations of $6,000.00 each from the Borough and the Denver Recreation Board to be used to purchase and pump concrete for the project. As of the date of this newsletter, the bowl corner has been installed. CASA will begin work to replace the bank ramp and the quarter pipe in July, 2020.
