To all those who have made donations to the Chapmanville VFD-thank you! In the next month or so, the department will send out a fund drive letter. If you have ma...de a recent donation and still receive a letter, please don’t take offense; just disregard it. Stay safe everyone! Have patience! Look out for your neighbor. And pray! We hope that we can gather again soon. Take care.

A Sacrifice Was it a mistake that God sacrificed his son for us? Was it a mistake that his son agreed to it? They don’t think so! But look at the world, look a...t all we do to each other. Sometimes I think why did God give his Son for us, for these child rapists, murderers, evil loving people? Because he had a plan for us. We have to believe that the outcome will be worth the trials we are facing now. That is the way I am feeling about this vaccine. Frontline hospital workers, EMS, and nursing home staff and residents are among the first to get the vaccine if they want it. Not being forced, being asked. They can take it or leave it. They are aware that it hasn’t been FDA approved, they are aware that it has only been tested on 40,000 people, they are aware that there are possible side effects. Yet some are choosing to get it. I feel they are making a sort of sacrifice themselves. They are taking the weight of the world on their shoulders to hopefully help slow the Covid virus. Hopefully they will be immune and can keep helping people or becoming people in the hospital. Staffers are becoming overwhelmed with Covid patients, leaving less room and personnel to deal with other illnesses or issues . Are these people making a mistake or making a sacrifice? It’s like a coin or the brain. There are two sides. No middle. But yet, there is. There’s that gray area. We measure the pro’s and cons and still are stuck not really sure which is right. It seems like it’s right there, in the middle. So, some take it, some don’t. Don’t convict those that do. Don’t be calling them stupid or tell them they are going to die. Don’t call them guinnea pigs . Someone needed to do it for the world. It had to start somewhere. And well, if it turns out bad, you can thank them for taking the risk and you’ll know better. And if it turns out to be beneficial, you can thank them for being courageous enough to go before you. One more thing. The commercials on tv for all kinds of medical issues, LISTEN to the possible side effects. Some of the side effects seem worse than the issue. But they are side effects, most likely not going to last. But some do, some cause lymphoma and other cancers, but people still go through with taking them! Why? They weighed the risks, they made the decision best for them and their families.Do we rag on them? Think about that before you condemn anyone getting the vaccine. They’re making a decision, too. Maybe even a sacrifice.

Every time the radio trips, my stomach turns. The fear is real. This is the reality we are living right now. Every trip could be Covid related. And it seems the percentage of trips are deemed Covid by the questioning the 9-1-1 center does. EmergyCare, Community, Meadville Ambulance, Townville, Centerville, Bloomfield, Spartanburg, and other departments-with transportable units are carrying patients every day; in a small little box. They are doing their jobs, yes, jobs they CH...OSE to do because they are caring individuals. They want to make a difference in all of our lives. They are run down, overused, abused, and they keep going! It’s not just them, but all fire departments that provide QRS. We do not transport, but we are often first in. First contact. We too are doing this because that is what we want to do. We want to provide you with as quick a response as we can. WE TOO are at a high risk of getting Covid, the flu, hepatitis and the list keeps going. Are we afraid? I am. I can’t speak for everyone. I believe the risk is very real. I have heard of people that have taken every precaution and still have gotten sick, VERY sick. Some have gotten it and were sick, but not deathly sick. It’s different depending on the person. No lecture here on what you should do. We make our own decisions whether to wear or not wear a mask and so on. What I would like to see everyone do; thank your local departments. Send them Christmas Cards, say thank you, and most importantly; pray for them. For their health, for their families, for being there for you. From all of us, to all of our local fire department friends, and our ambulance services; we wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and pray for a healthy, happy 2021! Love you all-Anita See more
