I just got back home from the grocery store. Dropped my bags on the kitchen table. I looked up and all of a sudden I just smiled. My home isn't big. It's old and well lived in. Filled with a lot of vintage items and pieces given to me by my great grandmother, grandmother, friends and grandmothers of friends. They knew that I would cherish and care for everything that most people would sell off or dump in the garbage. There is much love and history in these things that I will ...preserve and pass down to my children and hopefully one day, my grandchildren. It makes me happy and a little bit sad at the same time. To think that these things that I cherish almost went to the dump? I suppose it's my way of preserving not only my family history but a forgotten family as well. I love and appreciate every piece of china, vintage linen, old apron, family cookbooks and cast iron skillet. And this is a very small list. History is running through every room of this house and I'm very grateful for that. It may end with me but I know in the end I've done my best to keep history alive. Everyone have a blessed afternoon and stay vintage! See more
