The flag of the United States, as well as the DWX Flag, will be flown at half-staff today at all DWX Facilities to honor the passing of the late John "Chummy" Lignelli, former mayor of Donora. Mr. Lignelli served six terms as the Mayor of Donora, before ultimately retiring in 2014. It was the the hard work of the late Mayor to attract the Donora Wax-Coated Plastic Silverware Company and was able to lure the company to build its world headquarters atop St. Nicholas Drive, by ...offering tax breaks and other fiscal incentives. DWX plans on honoring the great former mayor of Donora by manufacturing a tributary line of wax coasted plastic silverware, which features a replication of Mr. Lignelli's signature on every wax coated plastic knife, fork, and spoon. This product will be available at our retail outlet, located in the old Montgomery Ward building in Charleroi, Pa. Additionally, a small tribute will take place at the DWX River Loadout Facility, in order to rename it to the "John Lignelli DWX River Loadout Facility". This ceremony will take place on Monday, December 5th, at 11:00 AM. The public is encouraged to attend, as several vendors from the Mid-Monongahela Valley will be there to provide food.

DWX stocks fell today among concerns that the world plastic silverware market is leaning toward biodegradable and environmentally friendly plastic cutlery. France has placed a ban on plastic cutlery that is rumored to take effect in the year 2020. France currently accounts for 6% of DWX's plastic silverware exports, most of which leaving the country via container ships via the DWX Baltimore Harbor in Baltimore, MD. DWX is posed to lose upwards of 30 million dollars per fina...ncial year pending the implementation of France's new plastic silverware legislature. Such a large blow to DWX's export market would have impacts, both domestic and abroad, and has caused a call to action by the company's founding members. Mr. John Kirk (Senior VP, Board Member, Director of Wax Division and Operations) and Mr. Brandon TIrpak (Senior VP, Board Member, International Promotions and Relations) addressed congress on Capitol Hill this afternoon, pleading for government funding to kickstart a DWX campaign to innovate and develop wax coated plastic silverware that has a degradation rate of up to 100x faster than traditional plastic silverware. Due to recent environmental concerns, DWX purchased the PR-111 in-line process wax analysis refractometer, which is a multi-million dollar piece of analysis equipment located at the DWX Engineering Department, located at the World Headquarters in Donora, Pennsylvania. The PR-111 can monitor and control the concentration of dissolved solids or water soluble liquids in process lines. With this piece of equipment, DWX can alter wax coated plastic silverware at the molecular level and develop polymers that have a much faster degradation rate. DWX hopes to have the technology in place to begin full-scale commercial production on an environmentally friendly wax coated plastic silverware at our Youngstown, Ohio plant by the year 2030. However, due to France's current proposed legislation, the time to act is now with the help of monetary aid from congress. As DWX is the industry's leader in wax coated plastic silverware technology, we will continue to strive for excellence to serve not only our consumers, but the environment as well in order to contribute to our long-term sustainability. Please contact your local congressman or congresswoman today to pledge your support to the increased awareness and need for additional funding for biodegradable wax coated plastic silverware technology. The future of our company and our children's future may very well depend on it.
