Gift of Life Donor Program 23.10.2020

"In the fall of 1997, Kelsey received a new heart from a two-year-old little boy, from Toronto. Prior to that miracle day, Kelsey suffered three strokes and a massive heart attack. She had a rare tumor in the mitral valve of her heart. At the time, there was only one other known case of this rare tumor. No one thought this could happen to a healthy, six-year-old, little girl. After receiving the new heart, doctors told us that Kelsey would not be a normal child. She was... not supposed to walk, talk, play, read, or write. However, Kelsey proved every doctor wrong. She taught herself to write with her left hand, played soccer and volleyball, ran track, and was a dancer and cheerleader. Kelsey has been living her second chance at life to the fullest. She is currently the head coach, along with her sister, of two cheerleading teams, one high school and one grade school. She loves spending time with her family and friends, going on vacations to the shore and Disney World, and taking care of her dogs. Kelsey's motto is "Tomorrow is never promised". She lives by this each day, she was given a second chance and does not take that for granted." -June & Krysta K.- Philadelphia, PA Sign up to save lives. Gift of Life Donor Program 05.10.2020

Did you know: Just 1 organ donor can save up to 8 lives and a tissue donor can improve the lives of more than 75 others? The need for education and awareness on the power of organ and tissue donation is crucial - lives depend on it! This month, Gift of Life Donor Program continues our mission to save lives by participating in National Donor Sabbath. This national initiative partners with faith leaders, houses of worship, and faith-based organizations to educate its congregations about the critical need for donors and to dispel myths and discuss religious beliefs about the donation process.
