Dover Area School District Appoints New Superintendent Effective May 1, 2021 Dover, PA (12/04/2020): At a special meeting of the Board of Directors of the Dover Area School District (DASD) on Thursday, December 3, 2020, the DASD Board voted to appoint Dr. Kelly K. Cartwright as the new Superintendent of Schools, effective May 1, 2021.... The DASD Board selected Dr. Cartwright following a comprehensive search and interview process which included input from staff, parents, and the community. Dr. Cartwright is currently serving as Assistant to the Superintendent in the Conestoga Valley School District, a position she’s held since 2010. Previously, she served as a Principal at Conestoga Valley as well as an Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, classroom teacher, and long-term substitute in other York County school districts. We are delighted that we have found someone of Dr. Cartwright’s experience and caliber to lead our district forward after our current Superintendent, Mrs. Tracy Krum, enters into her well-deserved, hard-earned retirement in 2021, said Mr. Nathan Eifert, President of the DASD Board. We are excited to welcome Dr. Cartwright to Dover and know that her proven leadership skills and collaborative nature will benefit our students, staff, and community. Dr. Cartwright has a Doctorate in School Administration from Widener University, a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Western Maryland College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University.

Community Aid Updates The district has been extremely fortunate to be in partnership with Community Aid for the last year. This partnership has provided opportunities for families within the district to access clothing, shoes, and household items, as well as given money back to the district for the Social Work department to use with families. Your donations directly impact those benefits, and we cannot thank you enough! This year, the partnership will look slightly different;... this is related to the amount of use our bins received. Community Aid is unable to maintain the bins on our properties given the limited use, however are still interested in supporting the district and our families. We will be moving to a virtual partnership. In a virtual partnership, you donate your items to any Community Aid location and provide them with our PARTNER #(20140), the district will continue to receive all of the same benefits we always have. The district will also be considering options for running clothing drives at the district for donation as well stay tuned!! Thank you for all of your support.

The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of the candidate's educational background, experience and professional contributions, as well as a rigorous, comprehensive written examination. David is one of an elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism. The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 12,000 individual members. It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.
