Gary Chappell, Regional Channel Manager of Ductmate, enjoyed a day out with customers from American Metals and Fagan Co. at the Kansas City SMACNA sporting clays event at Powder Creek Shooting Park, in Lenexa, KS. The event was put on by the local SMACNA chapter and consisted of 25, 5 man teams. It was a fantastic day filled with good shots, bad shots, and good laughs! National Intern Day is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the future leaders of the world. DMI Companies is proud to recognize our interns and the impres...sive work they do. Thank you Jarrett, Douglas, Ty and our entire intern team! Jarrett Mosco is in his second year of the Electrical Engineering program at Penn State Behrend and his second year as an Engineering Intern at DMI. While working with DMI Engineers through the Belle Vernon Area High School BotsIQ team, Jarrett demonstrated some impressive mechanical, electrical and coding skills. For the last two summers, he has utilized those skills to wire an entire control panel for one of our roll formers and program several SharePoint workflows for some of our automation systems to improve productivity and make the processes more seamless. He said one of the most valuable experiences from this internship has been learning new tools for software automation that will allow him to work and create more efficiently. Jarrett is also participating in the Westmoreland/Fayette Workforce Investment Board’s Experience Works! PLUS program which provides valuable career development opportunities for interns. Douglas Gudenburr is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at The Citadel, Military College of SC. In his 3 years as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern with DMI, he has shown outstanding technical knowledge, attention-to-detail and business acumen as he ran testing for multiple major product lines and contributed to product improvement. He said he has learned a lot of valuable skills around designing, testing and documenting products as well as developing a broader understanding of the operational considerations of running a business. He said his favorite part of his internship with DMI was the people he worked with and what he learned from them. Ty Bedillion is pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. During his Mechanical Engineering Internship at DMI, Ty’s knowledge, teamwork abilities and attention to detail served him well as he worked on the Life Safety Audit project. As a part of this project, he identified critical life products that we manufacture and evaluated any components that are necessary for proper function of the entire unit. Once those components were identified, he developed tests and standard test procedures to ensure those components functioned properly. Ty said his most memorable moment of his internship was testing a piece of thermal blanket at 2,150F and having to wear a shiny, tin foil like jacket to protect himself from the heat. #PASummerInterns #NationalInternDay Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board
