This is my beautiful friend Bonnie Ann, sending me a picture thanking me for the beautiful dress she is wearing and for encouraging her to sell her art. She never knew how amazingly talented she is, she never knew how much she inspired and encouraged me. Bonnie was diagnosed with a brain tumor little more than weeks ago, and today I have learned that she is in hospice care and can no longer speak. She is with family and they are communicating our messages to her. If you’...ve shopped at Eastcote you’ve no doubt touched one of her soul bowls and listened to me gush about how she did everything by hand, even dug her own clay out of river beds. If you are lucky enough to have purchased one of her pieces, you own a piece of her, you can feel her energy in her hand prints. She poured herself into everything she did I’m going to ask you now to please post a picture of your piece and tag it #forbonnieann so that her family might see the outpouring of love. If she is able, I want desperately for her to know how much love and inspiration she leaves with us I can still feel the last hug Bonnie... your friendship changed me, and I am better for knowing you You will stay in my heart and mind .... Eternal peace Bonnie Ann See more

About midway through my daughter’s recent tennis match, I broke basic tennis etiquette. Are you ok? I called out from the spectator area where commenting and ...cheering are prohibited. My daughter grimaced, nodded, and said, I’m ok. After playing three more points, she looked up at me. You don’t have to keep playing if you’re not ok, I said, surprising my ultra-competitive self who was known to finish college matches limping and bleeding. I’m so sorry, I heard my daughter say to her opponent. My stomach and back are hurting so badly that I need to stop. Once into the car, my daughter stretched out in the backseat, holding her stomach as her dad drove us home. About fifteen minutes into the drive, a weak voice piped up from the backseat. Mom how did you know I wasn’t ok? my daughter asked, genuinely perplexed. I thought about it for a minute. I really didn’t how I knew; I just knew. I’m not sure, I admitted. Parental instinct, I guess. I was really trying to push through, but the pain just kept getting worse. I was really relieved when you said something, she admitted. Thanks, Mom. It was almost as if my daughter was reading my mind. I’d just texted the team manager to let her know what happened, questioning if I should have just pressured Avery to finish the match and not let down her team. But in the ‘how did you know I wasn’t ok?’ question, there was validationthe kind of validation that is hard to come by most days. I don’t think we, as human beings, fully realize how many barely noticeable signs of pain and uncertainty we detect in the people we love each day. I don’t know if we fully realize how often we make a decision to choose compassion when we could choose another alternative, like authority, force, control, or skepticism. All day long, we must discern when to stand firm and when to be flexible when to be direct and when to ask for input when to speak up and when to listen when to be supportive and when to step back. Whenever we make the wrong choice, we guilt ourselves. But what about when we make the right choices? The choices that require us to go with our gut the choices that require us to stand alone the choices that require courage, trust, and patience? We make those choices tooand when we do, we hold our breath, not knowing how it’s all going to turn out. If this message finds you in the wait of uncertainty, may you hear a voice of assurance asking, How did you know? And when you don’t have an answerjust a feelingmay that bring you peace. The last year has really changed the way I have to run Eastcote. It’s been a hard adjustment, but a necessary one. I kind of had to let go of the bigger direction I was going, and dial it back to a level I could handle alone with some part time help. I want to paint for you guys! My custom board is full and overflowing and I am so grateful, and I hate saying no. But see, I turn 50 this year, and my physical ability to lift and paint furniture everyday is slowing down I...’m not gunna be able to do this forever. I started @eastcote_homestays to be able to have a next chapter with Eastcote. But that means I gotta get these houses done! Arbor Road is not as big a reno as Avalon Road was... but it is still going to take a lot of work to be ready for some of you to enjoy it this summer So don’t give up on me if you come by and we aren’t here you can always message if you need anything... we can always do appointments. I will be here as much as i can, but feel free to check first I’ll throw the open flag out every time I’m there @lizzlaww and @sarahgrossmans are team Eastcote, and are gunna help keep things rolling. sooooo grateful for them! So that’s what’s happening guys! It’s exciting and overwhelming and a lot scary.... and your support means everything THANK YOU!!! see you soon ~teresa #whatsgoingon #newproject #eastcotehomestays #arborroad #pivoting #thedream #onmyterms #dowhatyagottado #changing #growing #expanding #retracting #living #thejourney #entrepreneurship #solopreneur #smallbusinessowner #doingitonmyown #igetbywithalotofhelpfrommyfriends #teameastcote #thankyou #grateful #foryoursupport #love #eastcotelane
