This is from a fellow SAR provider! Its amazing... when someone goes missing that we as a society wait to call for the appropriate help to find who we believe to be missing and potentially in danger. If we see a Fire we call 911 right away and get a Firetruck when we hear shots fired we call 911 and get Police but when someone goes missing whats really done? Search Teams are a great tool... dogs, boats, drones, helicopters, and Teams of Trained People they can do so much w...hen properly used but the one thing they can NOT do is turn back the clock... Time is of the essence; Search is an Emergency... You would not wait to call an Ambulance for a Heart Attack Victim why wait when you know someone is missing in the woods, in the water, in a rural or urban environment?? Someone dieing from a medical condition is just as comparable as someone dieing slow, cold and alone in the woods from hypothermia... Someone missing in the water possibly drowning is just as time sensitive as the person trapped in a burning home... Emergency Services has evolved... our society needs to evolve with it... Put the right responders on the right calls and give the victim or victims a fighting chance. #SAR See more

As the weather starts getting nice and people start to clean up their yards, I'd like to remind everyone that it's wildfire season. And if you live in Mahoning Township, there is a burning ordinance, which states when you are allowed to burn, what you are allowed to burn and how you are allowed to burn. Open burning is prohibited in Mahoning Township. (Link to the ordinance: https://ecode360.com/7260556 )

Any SAR incident is an emergency. This means that any report of an overdue or missing person must be treated with as much seriousness as a report of a school bus accident, multiple vehicle collision, tornado, flash flooding, etc. One or more persons’ lives may be in danger the subjects of searches are often found dead, injured, or ill, and some are never found. At the same time, it is important to understand that, as a member of a team, that searches can create intense news...Continue reading

We're looking for 2 SCBA, bottles only, for our swiftwater rescue inflated hose device. Would anyone happen to have 2 retired but still in hydro bottles/cylinders lying around?

Rig-for-lower: my preferred option is the Munter Hitch with the Super Munter tieoff. I get it, there are several ways to secure the Munter Hitch however I find ...this one gives me the most versatility. It can be tied and released without allowing any rope through (or lowering the load even the slightest bit). It can also be partially released to allow lowering of two-person loads. See more
