Today at ECCHS our flag flies at half staff in memory of Edward Meyer. General Edward Meyer, a native of St. Marys and a 1946 graduate of St. Marys Catholic High School (Central), passed away on October 13. General Meyer lived a tremendous life. He went to West Point, won a national championship with their lacrosse team, and achieved All-American status. In fact, he was captain of the team. (ECC has never had a lacrosse team. He learned how to play at West Point.) He fough...t with distinction in Korea and Vietnam, and eventually rose to become a general and Chief of Staff of the United States Army. His life serves as a model in many ways. Certainly, it shows what someone from Elk County can achieve through dedication and hard work. Below is a quote from Edward's obituary. ECCSS is fortunate to have worked closely with his brother Jake, an attorney who still lives here in town, and Jake's wife Mary, who taught at ECC and founded our excellent advancement department. Mass intentions held on Sunday, October 11th at 10 am mass at Queen of the World Church will be in honor of both the living and deceased Alumni members celebrating 50 years from St. Marys Central Catholic High School and ECCHS. For the safety of our guest & current gathering restrictions our annual Golden Grad Reunion has been cancelled for October 2020. We hope to have a dinner celebration in October 2021 for both honored classes of 1970 & 1971!

Attention ECCHS Alumni! The Alumni Association is currently looking for a Secretary and VP to take over for the current officers. Terms are held for two years. The Alumni Association meets twice yearly in the Spring and Fall and currently assists with Fall & Winter Spirit Nights and the Golden Grad Reunion held yearly in the Fall. New ideas for events and to connect with our Alumni are always welcome by new members. ... ECC Grad Wins $5000 Dirty Jobs Scholarship Sabatino (Sam) Cerroni, a recent Elk County Catholic High School and St. Leo School graduate, has been awarded a national Work Ethic Scholarship through the Mike Rowe Works Foundation. Mike Rowe is famous for his work on the Dirty Jobs series on Discovery Channel, which highlights the value and integrity of manual labor and the trades.... Cerroni, who graduated from ECC in 2019, is entering his second year in the building and construction program at Penn College in Williamsport, PA. According to the Works Foundation, The Work Ethic Scholarship Program is about recognizing the people who understand the importance of personal responsibility, delayed gratification, a positive attitude, and, of course, work ethic. The hardworking men and women who keep the lights on, water running, and air flowingthe next generation of skilled workers who will work smart and hard. These are the folks we consider rock stars, and we want to reward them.
