ECWSA INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BULLETIN: Final Paving & Yard Restoration Schedule: Recently the Evans City Water & Sewer Authority (ECWSA) completed a major construction project along Mars Evans City Road to replace 5,000 feet of water main, as well as ECWSA-owned service lines and fire hydrants to improve water service reliability and fire protection for area residents and businesses. ... At this time, the construction work to install new facilities and retire the old facilities is complete. Final paving restoration of driveways, and yard restoration is scheduled for spring 2021. A wet spring could delay yard restorations until May 2021. ECWSA would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding until final restoration can be completed. This is a public service announcement from the ECWSA: With extremely cold weather in the forecast, the Evans City Water & Sewer Authority reminds customers to take necessary measures to prevent frozen household pipes. Protect your home by wrapping exposed pipes with insulation and eliminate sources of cold air near any waterlines.... We also recommend allowing a small trickle of water to run overnight to keep pipes from freezing. The cost of the water is minimal compared to repairing the damage from bursting pipes. Know the location of your main water shut-off valve. If a pipe freezes or bursts, shut the water off immediately. Do not attempt to thaw frozen pipes unless the water is shut off. To thaw pipes, apply heat from a hair dryer, space heater, or hot water. Do not use a torch or open flame. When it comes to frozen pipes, the old saying is true! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
