Tip of the day # 16 My favorite photographers use the plainest most common locations like sidewalks, a wall or a field to create amazing portraits. Tip of the day#17 I try to do the same things in our photographs. I don't think you'll ever catch me doing a senior portrait at the Capital building, some major landmark in Topeka or overused locations like Shawnee Lake. Yes we do go there especially if that's what the client wants. But I always say if I have to wait in line behind another photographer for a location, it's done WAY too much.
Photo tip of the day #15 Most parents want to see their children smiling ear to ear in every photo. Lots of photographers like to include serious photos of the children. It's something innate in photographers that we just have to get serious photos of people. But I've learned after many years and MANY, MANY subjects in front of the camera, regardless of what expression you capture, it should always be REAL. You can normally tell if an expression is real in the eyes. Of course when a subject smiles, it should be in the eyes, but even serious expressions, should have interest in the eyes. I think if you get that, you'll have an interesting image regardless of what is on the mouth.
Photo Tip of the Day:42 One of the benefits of digital photography is you can store hundreds of images on one card of camera media. If you find yourself running short of storage at an event you can extend your storage by lowering the capture quality via your camera settings. Change your quality setting to a greater compression JPEG and you will create a lot more room on your media.
