HAPPY MATCH DAY!!!! Please give a warm welcome to our new interns!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the family
Another block has come & gone. Time is flying by so quickly! In just a few short months, the 3rd years will be graduating, the 2nd years will begin their final year in residency, & the interns will move into their senior roles to make way for the new intern class. It's both scary & exciting But the most exciting thing of all is that Spring is around the corner Who else is done with this cold weather & snow? On to Block 10!
Last in our "Getting to Know You" series is... Natalie González, MS, DO - PGY-1 Place of birth: Washington, DC ... Medical School: Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine - Philadelphia Campus Career Interest(s): Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Primary Care , Academia Hobbies: I love to watch reality TV shows (KUWTK is my show...judge me all you want lol) I also love to cook with my fiancé (he’s a chef) and by cooking, I mean watching him cook and then I eat the food My most favorite thing to do is snuggle with my 4 cats (Princess Fiona, Sir Rufio, Countess Emilia, and Lady Sage) Fun fact(s): I spent a week in the Amazon in Ecuador with the Shuar Tribe to learn about all the different plants they use for medicinal purposes, their spiritual practices, customs, and way of life. One night, we ate roasted grubs and they gave me a ceremonial drink called Chicha. It was so delicious that I had 2 bowls full! I found out on my last day that the Chicha was made from sugar cane that the tribe women chewed on, held within their mouths to ferment, and then spit into the bowls...yesthat's rightI drank everyone’s spit Why did you choose Einstein Pediatrics' residency program?: I rotated in the well clinic while in medical school and I never had SO much fun on a rotation in my life It was the first time that I was excited to get up and come to work and I was sad to leave at the end of the day. I have never met a group of people that were so unbelievably kind and compassionate, especially towards medical students They always made me feel like I was a part of their family. Everyone took time to teach me anything I wanted and they empowered me to be a better future clinician everyday Diversity was key for me when looking for a program, so I love that everyone is from a different country from around the world #EinsteinPediatrics#EinsteinStrong#Einstein#AEMC#Residency#DoctorsOfInstagram#Match2021#Pediatrics#ERAS#ResidencyMatch#PediatricsResidency#PediatricsResidencyProgram#Interns#Philadelphia
A letter from our Program Directors in response to the unjust termination of Dr. Princess Dennar's employment as Tulane's Med-Peds Program Director based on her race. Dr. Dennar, we stand with you! ... #RacismIsAPublicHealthCrisis #EndRacism
Yesterday was "Wear Red Day" at Einstein to celebrate American Heart Month! We wore red to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, specifically in women Facts: Cardiovascular disease claims the lives of 1 in 3 women. 45% of women 20yrs old & older are living with some form of heart disease... 80% of cardiac events can be prevented through education & modest lifestyle changes (exercise, eating smart, & managing blood pressure) Even in a pandemic, heart disease is still the #1 cause of death in the U.S. To learn more, go to goredforwomen.org... #EinsteinPediatrics #EinsteinStrong #GoRedForWomen #AmericanHeartMonth #CardiovascularHealth
Next up in our "Getting to Know You" series is... Priyanka Kharayat, MD - PGY-2 Place of birth: New Delhi, India ... Medical School: Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, Meerut, UP Career Interest(s): PICU Hobbies: Love to travel , cook (especially cooking for my loved ones & my co residents), & exercise Fun fact(s): In my 2nd week of residency I saved someone’s life on the subway but my Kindle was stolen while I was doing so . Guess those simulation skills came in handy Why did you choose Einstein Pediatrics' residency program?: I chose Einstein because of the friendly & approachable faculty. After my 1st interview, I came back for a 2nd look & I got to hang out with our current Chief Resident/my friend who coincidently was the senior resident I started my residency with . I liked their honest input about the program. I was in Philadelphia working as a Simulation Fellow at CHOP 2 years prior to residency. It was definitely a smoother transition for me to be part of Einstein #EinsteinPediatrics#EinsteinStrong#Einstein#AEMC#Residency#DoctorsOfInstagram#Match2021#Pediatrics#ERAS#ResidencyMatch#PediatricsResidency#PediatricsResidencyProgram#SeniorResidents#Philadelphia
