With the new year just a few weeks away means there is going to be some changes among our chief staff. Serving as assistant chief for over 40 years, Bob Dluge has decided to retire from his rank. Bob has faithfully served the Elysburg Fire Department and the community at large since 1966 when he joined as a junior member. Bob will continue to be active as he will now become our safety officer. If you live locally to Elysburg, chances are you have met Bob or have seen him around. We would like to take this time to congratulate Bob on this milestone and thank him for his service in our department. We would also like to thank Robert Sharpe and Remember It In Glass for another beautiful plaque.

**ATTENTION ELYSBURG RESIDENTS. WE NEED YOU TO VOLUNTEER** Hello everyone, our numbers of active members has been on the decline lately and we are activity seeking new members! We could use new people as firefighters, drivers/operators, fire police, junior firefighters and help with fundraising in our community auxiliary. We are still able to respond to emergencies, however the number of firefighters on our apparatus responding to calls varies greatly. On good days we go o...ut the door with 5 or 6 people. On bad days we could go out with only 3 people. On average we respond to 3 emergency calls a week (numbers vary more or less of course) and have a training night once a week. An average call typically last 1 1/2 hours and our training nights usually last 3 hours. That’s only 8 hours a week (roughly)! Don’t have any previous experience? No worries! We will provide you the proper training, clothing and equipment to do the job. We ask that each of you take time and think of how you could help fill an empty locker here at your local fire station. It doesn’t matter if you’re in high school, working your day job through the week, or retired. We just need some of your time to ensure your family and your neighbors are safe. Please spread this message to your family and friends who might have an interest of being a firefighter. You never know, your neighbor could be the one who saves your life. Wouldn’t you want to save theirs also? Interested? Send us a message here on Facebook or email us at [email protected]! Thank you, Elysburg Fire Department
