Emporium Senior Center

Charmaine used to stop at the center all the time to hang out and play cards with the crew. She was such a sweet and funny person and will be very missed. There will be an online service this Saturday (1/23) at 3pm. Posting this link here to help spread the word to any friends of the center who knew her.

Just a reminder that no take out meals will be served tomorrow in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. day.

We did the math. The Emporium Senior Center served over 6,500 meals this year! This is an average of over 550 meals/month! We could not do what we do without the dedication of our volunteers! Though we have other amazing volunteers who help when we are operating as normal, we have had only 5 main volunteers who have kept things afloat with the Takeout Meals during the pandemic. Thank you to Ann Wheaton, Diane Williams, Gina Caton, Kathy Lewis, and Mary Hornung.... We also thank Ken Ostrum for his help in the mornings and to each of the Board Members who helped make decisions from a distance while we have been closed. Thank you to each volunteer. We appreciate you and thank you for all the time, dedication, and hard work you have freely given.

As we head into a new year, we recognize that 2020 did not play out as we planned. For the senior center, it meant taking indoor operations to a minimum and making Takeout Meals our main focus. We miss the bingo, the card playing, the general hustle and bustle and conversationMost of all, we miss each individual. It has sure looked different, but we are thankful that the meals have been able to continue on throughout everything. Though we wish we could give you a date in wh...ich things will be back to normal, for now we do our best with what we have, continuing to move forward, with the Takeout Meals being our main focus. If you are 60+ and live in PA and would like to register to begin picking up Takeout Meals at the door, call the senior center at 814-486-3707 for more details and to register.
