Wisdom teaching about waking up no matter what type you are: Awareness is vitally important in the work of transformation because the habits of our personality let go most completely when we see them as they are occurring. - The Wisdom of the Enneagram, p. 37
"The Enneagram is a tool that awakens our compassion for people just as they are, not the people we wish they would become so our lives would become easier." Ian Morgan Cron, The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery
To be great, be whole; Exclude nothing, exaggerate nothing that is not you. Be whole in everything. Put all you are Into the smallest thing you do. So, in each lake, the moon shines with splendor... Because it blooms up above. Fernando Pessoa, Poet See more

Because we can all use a helping hand.
We are put on earth for a little space that we might learn to bear the beams of love. -William Blake
The New Year Resolve List Top 10 you need to use now. 1. Learn to thank people for unsolicited advice. Gracious acceptance of their attempts lowers defense mak...ing it easier to for them to accept your rejection of it! 2. Let yourself have a bad day. Too often people disallow feelings to process~building up sadness, anger, and resentment. 3. Be selfish in a deeper way. Replace shopping with a massage and replace busy work with unplugging and going for a hike. 4. Get comfortable with comfortable silence. Allow yourself to process before you speak or respond. 5. Explore~really explore your place in the universe. Ask yourself why you're here. Sit with the unknown. 6. Do not keep anything that you don't absolutely need and love. You've heard that before. These things weigh you down physically and emotionally. Stuff is not safety. 7. You've heard it's time to let go. That's not enough. It's time to reframe what happened into a conclusion you can live with. 8. Only say sorry when it's necessary. And accept responsibility when you need to. Rectify the behavior with changed behavior. 9. Visit a new place whether it be outdoors, cultural, or otherwise. Anything that feeds you interests and soul~help stave off stagnation. 10. Do not read people's minds. So often we think and imagine so much that is not there. Take life at face value, follow your instincts, and take comfort in knowing your realistic level of responsibility in this world. Lastly resolve to drink 8 glasses of water daily!
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Happy 2018! Here are some thoughts for our resolution-making/ resolution breaking self-help-driven society: Self-acceptance is a way of viewing oneself compassionately, without condemnation or justification. It is a starting point in life which makes other things possible. It celebrates the fullness of joy of being alive and of being who we are: accepting ourselves, however, does not mean embracing our neuroses or bad habits and celebrating them as if they were virtues. ...On the contrary, self-acceptance involves loving ourselves enough to accept painful truths about ourselves. . . . Self-acceptance is, at its simplest, the experience of one's self, here and now, as a complete human being, with all the glories and problems that condition entails. "Compassion is expressed in gentleness. When I think of the persons I know who model for me the depths of the spiritual life, I am struck by their gentleness. Their eyes communicate the residue of solitary battles with angels, the costs of caring for others, the deaths of ambition and ego, and the peace that comes from having very little left to lose in this life. They are gentle because they have honestly faced the struggles given to them and have learned the hard way that personal survival is not the point. Their caring is gentle because their self-aggrandizement is no longer at stake. There is nothing in it for them. Their vulnerability has been stretched to clear-eyed sensitivity to others and truly selfless love." -- From 'Healing of Purpose' by John E. Biersdorf, quoted in 'A Guide to Prayer for All God's People', pg. 24.
Suzanne Stabile says any time you are feeling offended that it is your personality kicking in. Your true essence cannot get offended. This truth has become a powerful litmus test for me in daily life.
