Hi there! My name is Happy and I am happy these days. I have so many good friends at the shelter and they tell me I am a good boy and they take me out and play with me and I really like that! I didn't do so well at first but when I'm shown what to do and how to do it I love getting it right. I can do Sit, Stay and Down and I bet I can learn more. I learned to walk gently on my leash and my buddies tell me I'm really learning well and doing much better. ... You know what would make me even more happy - getting a forever home. The shelter staff want me to go to a home with adults who can continue to teach me some of the things I'm learning now. I might be okay with another dog so if you think you might be interested in me bring your pup to the shelter to meet me so we can see if we can live together. You can check me out at www.pspca.org. Oh I have a wonky eye. I don't have any pain - the Shelter Hospital fixed me up and will tell my family how to take care of my eye. The volunteers say I always look like I'm winking at them because of my wonky eye. If you are interested in meeting me come to the shelter - Pennsylvania SPCA at 350 E.Erie Avenue in Philadelphia ...we're open every day ...1PM to 8PM Mon-Fri and 10AM to 5PM Sat and Sun. Hope you come and meet me !

Asking all of our friends to please share for sweet Drake! Drake was returned to the shelter in May of 2017 due to no fault of his own! His family had their own personal matters they had to take care of. That means drake has been waiting for a forever home again at the Pennsylvania SPCA for about a year and a half. Drake is such a sweet snuggly boy who has the silliest face and will gladly run to you and give you a big hug! He at times can be shy with some new people ...he meets but not all. He loves to get some good back scratches and he loves nothing more than playing with and snuggling his toys. Drake recently even did very well playing in doggie play group at the shelter. Drake just loves all of his shelter friends and shares all of his love with them. He gives the best hugs and all of his friends get so excited to see him. He’s really a wonderful boy. Drake has an autoimmune disease that causes his outer extremities to receive a lower blood supply thus causing them to wear away, bleed at times, and be painful. At the shelter Drake is on a few medications to help control this which he would need for life. The shelter is no place to live for this sweet boy and he would love more than anything a forever home that will shower him with love See more

*Please share for Jacob* Jacob has spent close to 1,000 days in the shelter and he truly deserves to find a forever home!! Jacob is an easy going older gentleman around 8 years old. He’s as sweet as pie but would prefer a home with no other animals! Jacob has had a history of foreign bodies and surgery to repair his ACL so he needs a home willing to keep an eye on him at times! Jacob will happily snuggle in your lap and will give you so much love! He’s waiting at the Pennsylvania SPCA for his forever home

UPDATE ***** Hoss was adopted ***** Meet Hoss He is just the sweetest most gentle boy there is. Hoss is 11 years old and is looking for a home to lounge in. Hoss was seized from cruelty back in 2008 . Circa 2018 and he was returned by a different person than his original adopter as extremely overweight with terrible arthritis , a hematoma, and some not taken care of skin! His skin has improved, his hematoma was fixed, and he’s on calorie control food to nudge off tiny bits of that weight. Hoss loves to go for slow walks and snuggle next to you but what he particularly loves the most is belly rubs! He will gently nudge and paw at you if you stop giving him belly rubs! Hoss is waiting at the Pennsylvania SPCA for his forever home and he’s hoping someone has room for a wonderful senior dog like himself!

Hi, I'm Brownie! I am such a happy, friendly, and outgoing girl you would have no idea I have such a story to tell. I don't want to go into too much detail because my story doesn't hold me back or define me but I will tell you how I found myself at the PSPCA. Back in June I was found on the sidewalk wrapped in a fitted sheet with severe wounds covering my body. I was taken to the local animal control and my friends at the PSPCA were able to bring me here to help me feel bette...r. To be honest, I wasn't feeling too well. Not everyone believed that I would be able to bounce back and keep on living but I knew I wanted to continue to enjoy life. After all, I'm a young girl and there is so much life to live! My wonderful friends spent many weeks with me to help me feel better. Unfortunately during that time since my wounds were so severe I had to have multiple surgeries. One of those surgeries left me without an ear. This meant that my surgery site healed over my ear canal. Currently my doctors don't believe that I need more surgery but I will need a home that is able to watch for some specific symptoms of an ear infection. If I would one day have symptoms it is possible that I could need further surgery. I hope that I don't but I would need a home that loves me so much and would be able to get me help if I need it! Now enough about my history, let me tell you about my wonderful personality. I am a super friendly girl and I am so excited to meet everyone. I love to play, run around, and just have fun. After going through so much its easy for a girl like me to just want to be happy. I enjoy playing with other dogs and even get to play with some dog friends here at the shelter! I definitely have energy and sometimes I like to jump, run around, and just be a big goofball. Can you blame me? I'm just so happy to be here! I'd love a home that will exercise me, play with me, and enjoy having a younger, fun, affectionate, and outgoing dog! I'm patiently waiting at the PSPCA and I am hoping someone will come fall in love with me soon! I have so much love to offer. See more

Happy story alert! Gus, formerly Old Man, is 8 years old and going strong! We are celebrating our 5th anniversary with him and it is truly a case of "Who Rescued Who?" As someone who never owned a dog, I am happy to say that Gus has become my best friend. He cheers up the residents at my mother's skilled nursing facility, has many dog friends on our street, and is a favorite of the little girls next door. He loves to run errands with me on the weekend, wait for treats from the mailman and the trashman, and watch TV. He lives for peanut butter, hallah bread, and apples. #NoUsWithoutGus

Just what the doctor ordered. Rx: Baby. To lower blood pressure, soothe anxiety, or just plain make you happy (and Baby too)! Please come meet our Baby, waiting for a nice quiet home (adults and no cats, please). Is that my ride? Not yet Baby Baby has been waiting patiently two years for her ride home. Meanwhile, this lovely lady keeps herself busy enjoying walks and practicing her obedience cues. She’s really good at it!! And she also loves running our adventure course and trying out new challenges. Oh, and did we mention that she is a Charm School graduate? Some say she takes her time to warm up to new people like 5 minutes in my experience!! She would do best going to a home with people age 15 and up. While she can be dog selective, she has joined in with some doggie playgroups at the shelter. If you'd like to meet Baby, come down to the PSPCA and say hi or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact her buddy Deanne at [email protected]!

ADOPTED 8.19.18 (see pic) Wanna get Lucky? This zesty, quirky dude is looking for just the right home: One where his personal space can be honored. One where doggie treats rain from above. One where only adults live. One where he can be the only and top dog. One where he can supervise the day to day activities. This 10 year-old guy was skin and bones when he came to the PSPCA via Human Law Enforcement, and he’s now a gorgeous 30 lb Golden Retriever/Spaniel mix sporting silky fur. Because of his rough previous life, he’s a sensitive to handling until he gets to know you. If you would like to know more about Lucky, please contact his special Buddy at the PSPCA, Megan at [email protected]

Got love? Precious has 10 years of experience of giving and receiving love. This lovely shepherd mix is looking for a foster or forever home. Sweet and gentle, she can probably live with respectful, younger children and maybe even share a home with another dog. Some of her favorite things include walks, hanging out with friends in the shade on a nice summer day, baths and treats. She was rescued by PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement and boy is she grateful! Why not let her share her gratitude with you?! Please contact [email protected] or leave a message on this site.
