It's #BatWeek ! This adorable red bat isn't scary. In fact, bats are extremely important for many different reasons. Check it out! A vast majority of the 1300 ...bat species worldwide eat insects. In the U.S., bats save farmers an estimated $23 billion in pest control every year! Fruit-eating bats account for nearly 20% of bat species worldwide and are really important in spreading seeds of our favorite fruits like bananas, mangoes, figs, and guava. Even cocoa and almond trees are pollinated by nectar-eating bats. Eastern red bat. Photo: Billy Liar/Creative Commons
